My Gun Sounds...slow Down Overtime?

Really odd, but lately...my lmg firing sound slowly ....slows down...like slow mo. It still fires the same, but the sound just slowly slows down. It sounds awful eventually, and the only way to fix it is to re-launch the game completely.

What's going on?

    hehe... ummm im not 100 percent but it could be outdated drivers or your fps may be dropping and possibly slowin ur whole comp down. update drivers and see if that works and tell us ur fps... btw this should go in tech supoort forums <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    I notcied this too. I *think* it's a feature, so that the LMG sounds different. For me, t's only noticeable when using a sound with a long playtime (0.5 secs or longer), like the one from AvP1, I think.

    i get that problem too, is that when ur gun appears not to fire but it actualy is, u fire a whole round off but its like there is uber lag (but there isnt) and you gun doenst work properly, usualy i dont get any noise from it at all though

    all i can think off is low fps, my lmg slows down when my fps are very low, it shows the ammo going down but you only hear 3 or 4 bullets being shot

    my fps is always low (27-40) at least its never below 25 :S, must jsut be one of those things, when i respawn the problem goes away

    I have 50-80 FPS


    My guns fires fine, the SOUND is what slows down. Like slow motion...you know, like...umm..imagine a fast sound, now slow it down, it's more of a gurging long screeching sound. THAT is what my lmg sounds like after awhile.

    if you hear more then 16 sounds in 1 spot, your gun sounds won't work

    max sounds that half life can handel at 1 time is 16 - hence 16 chanels on the sound card

    i found this out a long time ago in a cs map i made, and was using the uzi against some vents

    btw...I'm using that AvP pulse rifle model with that sound....and it's fine for the first few min, but eventually it just slows down and sounds horrible.

    yeah this is odd sometimes it sounds like my gun fires faster then other lmg's

    Rp, type "record soundbug" in the console while in-game and make the bug appear. Then post the recorded demo up, which should be soundbug.dem in the X:\hl\ns\ directory. Maybe then I can see how I (or we) can help you better.

    If it doesn't appear on anyone else's system, then we'll know for sure that it's a driver issue and not HL's problem.

    sorry if this has been posted before but I didnt read the other posts.

    The sound is one of the earliest things to be cut out when the computer is having problems processing everything else.

    I have a custom sound for my lmg. If I record it, won't it just use the sound YOU'RE using and totally defeat the purpose? Maybe I can also send you my sound file as well.

    OK, try this.. I'm 90% sure this is why your sound's skipping.

    Get a sound editing software, open up the original lmg firing sound, and see how long it is.

    Then either crop or increase the frequency of (aka shorten) the sound file you're currently using to a length of time that is less than or equal to the original LMG round sound. See, with how weapon sounds are programmed, they continue to play until the sound file ends, not until a new round is fired. So if you're stacking long sound files onto a rapid fire weapon like a LMG, and if the shot animation is much shorter than the sound file, then you have like 30 different sound files playing, killing HL's rather primitive (aka QW based) sound buffers.

    So yeah, shorten that sound file down.

    If this isn't the problem, then I'll be damned.

    okay...I've cut the sound file down to .82 which is the original length of the original lmg sound

    still doesn't work. I couldn't get a demo because people were talking constantly. If you record while someone is talking, or stop while someone is talking, HL crashes.
