I guarantee (Marks Work Warehouse style) that you'll have a good nights sleep.
Being one of those boring 'I don't do drugs' types, I made quite good experience with autosuggestion and meditation. Just get yourself in a comfortable position, relax, close your eyes, breathe deeply, and try not to think. If you're too upset, start repeating "I'm calm" () or something along those lines in your mind. You don't fall necessarily asleep, but it's refreshing, too.

Meditation is great! It can declutterfy (not a word...yet) your mind and help you be mindful of the present. It's difficult at first, but once you get the hang of it your mind will slow down (not in the bad way) and you'll be able to sleep better.

I find that drinking alot of alcohol, about a 12 pack, will put you to sleep pretty easily. SUre, you might wake up in the morning with a headache, don't know where you are, have a funny taste in your mouth, and are dehydrated, but you will still get to sleep!
try staring at a clock...that's what i do. i just start day dreaming or plan what i want to do the next day. before i know it it's morning.
lately though i just watch tv or read a book. when i start nodding off in my book, that's when i call it quits and k.o. OR i just set the sleep time on my tv and just watch something boring like the revo hair styler infomercial!...just dont' watch anything good other wise you'll probably be drawn to watch that instead.

My best tip is to excercise a lot. Take a 5 min jog around the block a couple of houres before bed time. Make sure that it's not too close to bed time 'cause then the adrenalin will keep you up. I think that many is just mentaly tired when they go to bed but the body needs its workout as well.
In all seriousness, in my attempt to cram as much activity in the day as possible, I really don't sleep too much anymore. Of course, this has led to a new problem: narcolepsy. Turns out if you stave off sleep long enough, it WILL come after you, no matter where you are. Collapsing and waking up after losing ten hours is not fun, kiddies. Like Okabore said though, usually my passing outs occur after a work out and a shower, I'm done. Or just during classes. Whatever.
If I stay up all night, I seem to pass out around 3:00 in the afternoon. I also seem to take power naps in classes.
When I had my accident, I didn't sleep for four days streaight in the hospital. I swear I started hallucenating (hallucenation is a documented fact that occurs with no sleep for about 3-4 days)
really, my ex-girlfriend used to sleep hit me. I always ended up on the floor

There are two things I can suggest to help you sleep
1: warm up a glass o' milk in the microwave. Seriously, the heat activates enzymes that make you tired and help you sleep better.
2: try to avoid your bed, or the room where you sleep if possible, until you go to sleep. That way, when you actually go to bed your body will know its a trigger to go to sleep. However, if you watch tv on you bed during the day or just hang around your room all the time then your body doesn't have that trigger. For all it knows you're still wanting to do more stuff.
Try this for a week or so and see if it doesn't help you go to sleep more quickly.
Hm, but what to do when your sleep clock has been ****ed up for 3 1/2 years. Going to sleep at 6:00am and waking up at 4 or 5:00pm. Boy I have a life don't I? Maybe I can manage to live just past my thirties or something. I say **** with all this american social public pressure nonsence. Nobody can make freinds because were all too damn concerned about how we all look and what impressions we make. I truly hate my own species for that. No such thing as relaxing anymore these days. Bah, I need help...

If possible, don't say any drugs/dangerous stuff for the younger of us (ie: me)
And one that doesn't hurt like banging your head against the walls an unhealthy amount of times.
