Commander Health Rings

for buildings
i noticed that in the official comm mode screenshot posted by flayra that all the marines had their health rings shown without the mouse cursor on them. do the health rings only show when objects are selected or are they shown all the time?

i'd like to see them shown all the time, especially the building healths. it'd be really useful for comms because most of the time they're oblivious and i actually have to inform them that a bunch of buildings are about to blow. and when i'm comm and there are like 6 dozen buildings all over the map its hard to put your cursor over EACH one to determine their health.

i'd put this in the suggestions forum but since it may already be implemented i'd just like to get some confirmation, if possible.

yeh why not!! i cant confirm but i support that it would be useful. along with health and armour of teammates. how many times do u weld a HA when they are full armor for example. i know there is a metamod for this but it would be usefull if it was actualy integrated.

Yes! an armor ring to go along with health rings would really help. but the thing is that marines can't see each other's health rings at the moment (probably because they can't do anything about each other's health). i'd like to see armor rings visible to marines since its up to them to weld each other.

Great idea but I'm guessing it would put a lot of lag or something on the comm's machine. Mainy because he would always see the rings were ever he looks and there always changing from damage or repair.

How about that when the building is fully built and undamaged, you don't see the rings?
That would help a bit with the lag.

It shows the health of all the marines that are currently selected, maybe to comm had used the new "select whole team" button and had all of his marines selected.

Wun it be better if buildings have health bar instead of rings?
It would be easier to differential between the two.

I third it... or at least a toggle to "show all" building health rings or something

a toggle key would be nice for whenever you want to do a scan of all your buildings for damage while not laggin the poor low end puter users. i like. now if only a moderator would kindly phase this thread to the suggestions forum we'd be all set

    yeah!
    buildings - health bar
marines - health ring AND armor bar
comm would see rings all the time and bars would be switchable
isnt it great? and theres a logic behind this - the buildings health is its armor actually, coz armor is kind of "unnatural health", buildings die from not having it, but marines can live until their natural armor runs out

currently alien health rings include armor...so it wouldn't be to much of a strech I imagine. However the set ups are alittle different for the two. Personally I prefer the ring on buildings and troops to anything else. Much easier to deal with. Second...a good commander would take the time to notice if a building was damaged...third...commanders cannot directly repair buildings so it wouldn't matter to change them. No reason...commander just need to make sure they drop wielders so someone can fix it.

Good idea...Bad idea. Keep playing, keep thinking. Better to voice 20 bad ideas then be to scared to voice 1 good idea.

Zupico has had the best idea so far why bother with a toggle button when you can just make it show the damaged structures/players...

Maybe for an armour ring you could have a smaller circle inside the health ring, with a different colour (blue would look nice )

Well one reason a toggle would be better than just show if their injured is..... what happens when splash damage weapons hit a turret farm? Most of the buildings would be damaged then, but not by much, and i'm guessing the rings might just get annoying then. Right now as comm I just put my cursor over the buildings that have been under attack if I need to check the health... works fine so there might not be a need to complicate things anyways.

Would be great if something was done about armour displaying though (if it's not already done in 1.1).. whether it be rings (might be too much clutter) or just a text display next to their name (when a marine looks at another marine).
