<div class="IPBDescription">Where to find server resources</div> For a very noob (as in, wannabe) server op, can you guys point me to where I can get the following information and resources?

NS server setup (Win2k) for someone who has never set up a HL server
Utilities/plugins to ease administration (like AdminMod)
Custom maps (I have found several "server's" sites, but no map sites)
List of commands I can include in cfg files or run from console
Server mods, like SOME of voogru's items (some are just insane [hand-held siege] for a pub server)
Anything else you think I might need, no snide comments please!

[aside: I am not a 10 year old trying to host & play on his own 200MHz computer...I just built a 2nd computer specifically for this purpose--dual XP 2400, 1 GB ddr400. Side question:
    how can you put a 400mhz DDR memory on a dual mobo that needs to have ECC Registered, and ECC Registered only comes as DDR PC2100(266mhz)

    I'm not a Win32 admin so I can't really help you there. But I can answer a few of the questions. Hopefully someone else can pick up my slack on the installation and running of a Win32 server with Adminmod.

    AdminMod can be found here: <a href='http://www.adminmod.org' target='_blank'>http://www.adminmod.org</a>
    They have a nice Installation help page there, it works well if you follow the instructions closely

    Server Modifications can only be used if you have MetaMod installed. MEtamod is installed by default when you install adminmod, so if you do that first adding mods will be easier. The best place for mods right now is
    <a href='http://www.modns.org' target='_blank'>http://www.modns.org</a>

    I download all my custom maps, (and play them too) at:
    <a href='http://www.mayberrygames.com' target='_blank'>http://www.mayberrygames.com</a>

    Server commands can be found in a sticky at the top of this forum, under the server cheat codes link.

    Hope that helps some.

    No mainboard I'm familiar with *requires* ECC memory to run, rather it can use it if it's available and the mainboard supports it. ECC memory is just insurance for those just-in-case scenarios of critical computing, Half-life is hardly a critical application.

    <!--emo&:angry:--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/mad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='mad.gif'><!--endemo--> Ack, sorry, I got mixed up with my other pc, the specs were a quick addition...
    the dual (hosting) pc is reg pc2100, required on Tyan Thunder K7X dual mobo
    the other (playing) pc is xp 2100, ddr400
    but both have 1GB <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Now, I have a powerful hankerin' for info on how I can set it up!
    There is lots of good stuff here in the forum, but I was hoping for more central locations, like tutorial websites, since I don't really know what I need to look for yet.

    ===Edit===
    thanks vada, you posted while I was writing...
    Anyone else with suggestions?

    or use, the google search I did, it has about 10 pages of links.

    <a href='http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=how-to+setup+a+half-life+server' target='_blank'>http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-...alf-life+server</a>

    Also for your server.cfg I think in this forum one of the admins made a webpage that you can enter what you want and get a working server.cfg.

    Enjoy!, and let us know if you have any other specific questions.

    *EDIT*
    here's the php script link: <a href='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?act=ST&f=8&t=29979' target='_blank'>http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/in...=ST&f=8&t=29979</a>

    Make sure you DO NOT enter a real rcon password in this page for security reasons, use notepad and open its up and edit that line yourself.

    You can try this <a href='http://server.counter-strike.net/help' target='_blank'>site</a> its how to set up HLDS for counter-strike. Same thing except for the mod specific commands.

    the key word in that is SUPPORTS which means you CAN use registerd, but you don't have to.
