what button or bind do you use when being a comm to press button on doors to open and close for them? This has got me in a pickle of a dilly.     AS far as i know you just click / double click on them to do it. But i've found it's bugged as hell and doesn't work on about half the doors.

    Or then again, it could just be me.

    i click and hold on the door itself and drag a bit a puff of white smoke means its worked

    You can just controll doors/elevators or build stuff on it.

    i can't ever get it to work most of the time... i just tap tap tap around the door until it works or not.

    I believe, though not positive, that it is a mapper specific thing (IE some things can be used by the comm and some can't)

    Easiest way is to double click.
    This is what I've got to work so far:

    Map: Bast, the wide door below the lift at marine spawn is easy. I've yet to get the lift to work. The rotating door works. The lift that runs parallel to tram tunnel works, the door to engine hive works, the lift between water treatment and main aft works. The little hatch door next to the res node that aliens start with in refinery will open, but I can't get it to close (can't remember if I have succeeded or not).

    Tanith: the lift between chem transport and acidic solution works. The doors to cargo can also be opened by double clicking.

    Hera: After welding, you can open/close the security doors near reception. Cargo lift works. Unsure on the doors around cargo, but I believe they work.

    Nancy: I have yet to get ANY door to open on nancy, regardless of switch or just the need to be "used" to open

    Nothing: quadlift, the lift next to it, and the lift in generator all can be raised/lowered by the comm. Also, I believe the 2 doors near powersilo can be opened/closed as well as the door near generator.

    Eclipse: Nothing can be opened or closed.

    Caged: Shipping tunnel door can be opened/closed. Good to test if gorge has blocked it. I believe the door airlock style doors can be opened, but I'm not 100%. I usually don't use it when commanding.

    usually, as comm if you put your curser over a door or elevator you can mnkey with you will see a hand or some intersting Icon. I am told a simple right click should work most of the time. this does not always work as it is still somewhat buggy and does not always on all maps...and all objects. Try it..sometimes it works...sometimes it doesn't. However you usually don't need to worry about it. If you have marines that need something that simple done for them...you have other worries.

    just to keep beating a dead horse......and to recap before the moderators close this.....

    1) Yes, it works
    2) It's buggy as hell
    3) It's not on every door/elevator

    I think that summarizes it....

    except the thing in scienselab (or something) on ns_tanith, below waste hive, but thats not a door anyway...

    To get it to work....

    Select a marine first. Then right click on the other side of the door. Voila! The door gets opened.

    I don't comm a lot, but I have always been able to open a door open when I needed it.

    Don't click on the switch, just click a couple of times on the door itself.
    Maybe that's because I almost never open doors but meh <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
