I like it... what about you?
Recently installed SplinterCell for my PC
and it's quite good so far. Nice training
level to get you started and fimilar with the
controls. So far so good (BTW the Demo is very
unstable and full of bugs! Don't say you weren't
warned!)
I'm strangely found of games that require alot
of stealth movement, i.e Tenchu, Metal gear Solid,
SplinterCell etc.

I'd say simply amazing. But sometimes much too hard, because you're not sure where to go. And much too short.

The game's fun, but hella frustrating. Auto saves happen at terrible times, and the AI pulls stupid/impossible things at times. The Camera Control is by far the worst thing I've ever had to deal with in a video game. Other than that, it's fun.

    i liked it
but it seemed like one of those games that gets old after a week.

Of course, primarily because on hard difficulty it only took me between half and 3/4 of a week to beat
I liked it for the most part, but it was much too linear compared to other great games in the genre.
Hitman 2 was quite good, but I would have liked more control of the difficulty settings; I wanted the # of saves per mission allowed on medium, but the map system of hard (map only, no moving icons for every person on the map like easy or medium)

Quite simply, Splinter Cell may be the best game of it's time to come out in awhile, but any game in the Thief series can drop-kick the competition into last week.

A good game...a bit linear (well, very linear, but you get presented with different ways of dealing with situations) and not very long at all but enjoyable. I expect they'll reap in lots of money with an expansion pack.

i tried this game at a microcenter. (they sell computers and computer goods) i liked it, it was a little tough getting used to the controls...

but i think my favorite part of the training is knocking someone out and dragging them into a dark corner or dodging the cameras...pretty interesting game.

the character in the game looks a lot like bruce willis, doesn't he?

I absolutely loved Splinter Cell on the PC (hated it on X-Box, due to control issues). Loved it loved it loved it. Though there isn't much replay value to it, because the game is painfully linear... :(

I've played the demo on a radeon 9700 pro-powered beast, it looks bloody amazing. There's a moth fluttering in front of a light bulb that casts shadows on the god damned stairs. And that infrared mode is so cool too, I love shooting people and watching their body slowly cool.

    ...

    What?

I enjoyed it, nothing like sneaking through the dark, grabbing people and putting a gun to their head, then pistol whipping them unconsious.

    mmmm, pistol whip......

The levels are so strictly linear and many remind me of old-skool Mario; the one where u cant go backwards thru levels once you have moved the screen forward.

Ubi Soft (the makers of Splinter Cell) are working on expansion missions for PC and Xbox versions (heaven bless EGM). They already have an uber-hard one for Xbox, soon to be on PC I think. It's called Koala Cell. Even the seasoned Third Person Stealth editors at EGM had some difficulty on the Koala Cell scenario.

to be honest....i find that splintercell is boring , give me MGS2 on PS2....

Yes as everyone said, toooo linear. But great game nonetheless.

Now my question: how would YOU make splintercell less linear? You do have strict objectives from the NSA, the mission is planned ahead of time, and disobeying orders result in mission failure.

I'm not saying it's not possible... I'm saying I love the game enough as it is

Rather than having levels feel like this: ---------------------------------------->

I would make them feel like this:

    --- |\
    |___| \ / \
    / \ \ / \
    / \ \ / \
    |____\___\ / \
    \ / \
    \______/______\
    \
    \__________>

I completed the game without killing anyone.... Other than the 2 guys you HAVE to kill but even then all i did was knock them out.... If you say 'BS!?!?' please note that sticky cameras can be used as retreivable Ring air foils in that they can be used to knock people out from afar. You have to aim them at the enemies heads otherwise you would merely tick them off!!! That last shot I used about 40 or so loads from an autosave to get the camera to hit!

Quite a versatile style of playing. It's like MGS2, you have objectives, you have a level, you have to go forward eventually.

Plus you can add-on scenarios and new weapons and such. Very fun,
