We're Pulling Out

A couple news clippings caught my eye this morning as I sipped this company's utterly filthy coffee (talk about needing a UN WMD inspection team...). The US seems to be doing a lot of repositioning of troops. One person might call it overdue. Another might call it a reprisal. Yet another might call it dangerously imprudent. What do you call it?

    I'm indifferent about the Europe thing (indeed, I rejoice, because my physics teacher made a living off of renting houses to GIs, and I hate the guy), but the Saudi Arabia move could very well be the best thing the Bush administration ever did: Saudi Arabia includes the two holiest cities in Muslim believe. Having American soldiers in that country was one of the main reasons for Al-Quaedas creation and one of the main motivations for many suicide attackers.

    2) US Desecration of Muslim holy land (They're pulling out? Whoops)
    3) Loathing for a superior culture when own culture says it should domiante the world. (Still goin' strong)

    Well, 2/3 ain't bad. I'm glad to see it.

    It does however make the point that the reasonings behind terrorist hatred of the US will not go away. They will simply find new things to hate. It's a micro-level version of the middleast governments' macro-level fingerpointing at the US; get your citizens to hate America, and they will be less likely to hate their own dictatorships. A proven marketing tool! In another life, Saudi Sheiks would have been madison avenue whiz kids. It'a about power, not religion.

    Well the Saudi Arabia thing isnt that significat because we will still have troops in Iraq, and the article did say they were just moving to Qatar, seems we could still hit SA from Qatar pretty easily. And the Europe thing I think is being cause by the budget crisis in the US. Also Rumsfield is a firm beliver of "do more with less" and he was a proponent of the "slimming down" and "techining up" "OMG the Americans are Techrushing WTH!" hehehe anyway I think its good anyway I'm sick of the rest of the world pooping on the US every chance it gets, maybe not seeing so many of us Yanks (does this word come from Yankee or Mausterbation? serrious question I wonder if anyone has the etemology<sp> of the word) out there will ease the hate.
