Although I ran through each test one time, I'm fairly confident my times are correct. Stopwatch was started when the first shot was fired at the hive, and stopped as soon as the death animation started to play. All shots hit the hive.

The big jump in the HMG time is due to the only need of two clips, thus cutting down the need to reload. Thus, two hmgers can take down a hive in less than 12 seconds if all hit their mark.

It's interesting to see how the nade takes so long to take down a hive. It's mostly because of the reloading that makes it ineffective to take down hives.

    Grenades are not very effective vs. hives but they are good vs. chambers. I think that's the way devs meant it.

    yea I tested it anyways because some people wondered how long it would take to take down a hive with nades.

    and some times a nade will fly past a hive (i guess its image is bigger then its hitbox) even thow it should have hit. HMG's tend to miss less because you get to point blank range.

    A Demo that I made for a similar discussion awhile ago.

    1st it shows the HMG take out a WoL then a GL take out a WoL.
    2nd it shows a HMG take out a Hive then a GL take out a Hive.

    The point is you need both HMG and GL to take down a real-in-game Hive with all the chambers around...

    This is kinda off-topic but am I the only who thinks it's stupid how the marines take 2 grenades at a time making it take umm well pretty long time to fill up the GL using the armory?

    grenades are significantly better at a WoL because they do the same damage to every structure, so their total damage is multiplied when there are a lot of targets nearby. and since a hive is onyl one structure, the HMG has better damage efficiency.
