56k Servers

Are there any 56k servers out there? Any NS servers just for 56k'rs? , Any 56k tolorent NS server admins?

you mean 56k clients? The game is designed to be played with 56k clients... I don't think server operators really see a big difference on their server. On mine, I dont care...

In my history of NS playing (with me seckse 56k modem, silly!), I have yet to encounter a non-56k tolerant server.

stay on games under 18 players. I used to have 56k when NS came out and could play on an 18 player server but 24 and up i just lagged too bad.

You guys must not be able to read, he is asking if there are ANY NS servers that KICK low pionging players so 56K only players can play on an even field.

Got that? Are there <b>ANY</b> NS servers that KICK people with sub 100-200 pings? As in only 56k users are ALLOWED to play there?

I don't think there are any 56k only servers for NS. I know there were some 56k only servers for CS but those were actually few and far between. Many, many people have broadband now and many of those people who have broadband play games on it. Actually I'm beginning to think that braodband players outnumber 56kers now a days.

My server or admins won't punish you for having a high ping, your welcome to player there. But I don't want to hear any whining about ping or lag.

My answer to that?

I run a NS Server and have a 26.4 modem connection at home. (You read that right, roughly HALF of 56k)

I admin my server and have been playing NS since november with lil trouble on my connection. I don't care what your ping is, just have fun and play. <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'> IP is in sig.

I do agree, NS is the best HL mod I've seen with my modem.

AM does kick highest pingers tho for the reserve slot which is my biggest annoyance to servers that have a kicking reserve.

My solution? Give any 56ker who wants to have a kick free game experience, PM me with your wonid and I'll hook you up with a reserve slot, problem solved <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'>

LOL I just saw that myself in ASE, only server at 6am with people in it in Europe and if I go on I get kick/banned :o

ns.chimayhem.com:27015 <--- CHI Mayhem, my friend dariens server doesn't kick ban high pingers, or kick anyone for AM since there are 0 reserved slots. 16 player.
ns.shadowsofdeath.net:27015 <--- Shadows of Death clan server, my server, doesn't kick ban high pingers and again, no reserved slots. Couple clanners are even on 56k a lot of the time. Enjoy...

As for that guy who has it set to kickban, at 150, sometimes pings go above that in 1.04 even for highspeed users, so that isn't very smart for starters, and secondly I think that's just rude, I mean if it was a reasonably high ping, one that could drag down performance for most people, then I can understand some people wanting to use it. But there will never be an autokick like that on any server I run, because they are public for a reason, you don't want 56kers on your server, why are you running a pub?

Yeah Roo it's really bloody stupid. When Eya's Egobooster lags and everyones pings rise, you get these "Ping warnings, next time kickban" by the server.

Well thanks guys. I asked this on the CS forums a few months back and well.... lets just say it was a big mistake. I really do appreciate your help and hope to be playing with some of you soon.

I found 2 56k CS and 1 DoD and TFC server on the jolt network but they are in the UK so my ping goes 100ms higher when I connect there. And about the whining about "ping or lag" I know my connection and I know that my ping is going to be high and that I will lag more than others and I have done all I can to optimize my connection so there is no real point to whining about it, so in short you will never here my whine or complain about my ping or lag.

That dude is she. And she runs this server for free. And I have never got kicked because of ping skyrocketing in hera or bast. And hardly anyone gets kicked (except those 56kers <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'> ) . Atleast no-one living in Finland.

I personally don't see the point of kicking HPBs AT ALL.

In this day and age, all the whiny little kids have got daddy to buy broadband, and in general those on high ping connections <i>tend</i> to be the older, working people who are decent <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'>

Not to say those like me on a <10ms connection almost anywhere in the UK got daddy to buy it of course, but you get my point <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'>
