at the moment we're playing BzFlag, we've tried a few others. Anyone got any great free games? (multiplayer)

If you can get it running right, <a href='http://www.rockstargames.com/classics/' target='_blank'>Grand Theft Auto</a> is now freeware. Damned fun in multiplayer.

And there is always stuff like the SOF2Test, UT2003 demo, BF1942 test, etc...

Hey! Go to www.gamehippo.com or www.the-underdogs.org

Gamehippo is freeware only, and underdogs consists mostly of abandonware (old games), but some new ones can be found too (like System Shock 2).

Quake 3 demo...fun, and it doesn't need a super computer to run. I mean, the comps at school run it, and they don't even have graphics cards.

Try Moonbase Commander. It's only $10-$20 bucks in the bargain bin, and EXTREMELY fun in LAN games.

    Umm... Why?

We used to play HL on our office LAN at lunch every single day with anywhere between 3 and 7 people. CD key checks and WONID checks aren't done for LAN games.

All our PC's at work are audited for licensing purposes. Anything (including games) must be bought and paid for. I (and everyone else at work) aren't gonna pay for another copy of HL just so we can play for an hour at lunch every day.

Had a game of GTA today though, was good fun. Not as fun as games like BF1942, UT2K3, NS, CS, HL... oh well <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->
