Your Half-life History
<div class="IPBDescription">The games we played</div> This is a post to place your multiplayer FPS gaming history. Not Everquest or anything like that, FPS only.
I started out ever so young with DOOM first, playing it like mad with friends on a crudely constructed LAN with hubs. Over time I met Duke Nukem 3D and brought it into my school where we played after hours until the teachers kicked us out. Around the time I got my own computer I started playing Half-Life, back when there were no mods, just plain old Half-Life multiplayer. I created a clan called [808] (lesee if anyone can guess what it's significance is) and we owned the net, crushing anyone who got in our way. Eventually the clan split up and went it's different ways to different genres. A while later I found TFC and played the crap outa that. I got what I deemed extremely good with the Spy after playing sniper for a while and could easily cap everyone elses kills on most maps (my fav being avanti when I found it). I had to take a break for quite a while because I went to basic and then went back to TFC. After playing that on and off for a while a friend showed me a new game coming out called NS. And here I am!

Anyone remember that game? Due to the client-client mutiplayer archetecture you had to judge ping times and "lag shot" into thin air to hit people. I used to be the master at it.
Then I moved onto Rogue Spear, then Urban Operations, then I played Counter-Strike. Moved onto TFC, then to Sven Coop, Battlefield 1942, and finally to NS <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
Then I played Duke Nukem heavily for about a year, after that I found TFC.. thinking the HW guy was the highway guy <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> then I found counter strike and now NS.. woohoo go me <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

Battlezone. Not strictly a fps, but, well it was first person and revolved around shooting..I was so young I had to stand on a bar stool to see into the screen.. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
Does "Elite" count?
If not, "Mercenary", if that doesn't count either, then its the old Infogrammes game "Hostages", ( google it, it was class ) followed by either "Carrier Command" or "Alien Breed 2" on ye olde Amiga.
- wc1/2/3 i think should be added since they helped me with comanding in ns.
--> jediknight 2

Got my PC just over a year ago, some friends told me to get Half Life to join their TFC clan. Played TFC like mad, could beat so many people as long as I was a medic. Kinda funny too, thats where I got this name (used to be Necravolvr online), I kinda stole it from a guy who was kicked form our clan. Then I got into various other mods as well as other games of varying genres. Then NS came along, and recently its been NS and Warcraft 3 all the time.
I still use Necravolvr for WC3, TFC, and some other mods, but stuck with Grimm for NS and a few others.
I've no idea of the timeline though..... hmm.
Well, lets see......... Xybots, Bloodshot, Wolfenstein, Doom, AvP on the Jaguar, Duke Nukem, Quake II on the PS, Half life plus expansions, JK, Unreal, Unreal Tourney, JKII, AvP Gold, AvP2 plus expansion, Deus Ex, Kingpin, RtCW, Rainbow Six plus sequels on the DC, some WW commando one on the DC whose name escapes me, MoH:AA plus expansions, EF plus expansion, Quake trilogy plus most of the expansions, Thief, Thief II, Messiah, EF2......... and now NS.
Thatd be the conventional fps games, not inlcuding the flying shooters.
However I do find it important to note that while I play bf1942 mods now, its only because no one on steam plays any decent hl mods ie ns and dod (in australia anyway). BF1942 is and was a huge disappointment, and the netcode is a disgrace.
Dark Forces (loved that game)
Duke Nukem 3D
Quake 1 Shareware (First Major FPS I played)
Quake 2 (First Online Experience too)
Goldeneye
Turok 2
Perfect Dark
Half-Life
RTCW
AVP2
SOF2 and countless others (Like FAKK2, now that is a good game)
Duke Nukem 3d
Marathon Infinity
Goldeneye
Counterstrike
That doesn't count games I played for like 30 minutes-2 hours total (like caste Wolfenstein, or Doom I or II).
Raised on a mac, never really liked the FPS platform, found out I was good at it, and found a fun version of the FPS (one without medpacks)
