About the search, does it only not work for certain browsers?

I have noticed that the search works much better with Netscape 7.0 than Internet Explorer 6.0.

Not sure about the other browsers.

What amazes me about a repeat post is the 'poster' will post his topic, first reply will be " Use the search button " yet the post will still go on to be 3 pages long Looks like people are maybe interested in what he has posted or keen to help...seems that we are dealing with a minority here Shock...

Aye Talesin, I was. But the point is still valid. If that mindset grates on me, and I've posted for a while, then how are the real new people going to feel by that treatment?

    I must agree to the "USE A SEARCH!!11 N00B!!!!!"-overuse.
It seems the word "n00b" is used a lot more as well..
I don't like such insulting people...it really makes the feel of the board all "Go away, you don't belong here!"
If you don't wanna read it, don't read it!
It's a forum, not an army drill.
    Sjeesh!

    1. People tend to ignore faqs.
    2. People do make mistakes.
    3. The search ain't perfect.
    4. Posting "Use the search" bumps up the redudant post.

As much as we want to avoid redundancy, it will continue to happen and nothing can be done to prevent it.

If the search doesn't seem to work right if you search for multiple words, check if you used the right operations.
    e.g. do NOT search for

    search noob
    (no results)

    but

    search AND noob
    (4 results )

I'm sorry to disagree with you (god forbid anyone do that), but I take issue with that. What are you crying for? That people should be less original in your posts? Why do you think the community will die if people do that?

Ok, I'll admit it's hard to be -completely- original, but I just wish that people would think before they post, and read the FAQs too. Why is it so bad when someone is nicely told that their topic has been brought up before, so-and-so descision was reached and perhaps they could read the FAQ?

Err.... Insane.... I meant people shouldn't have to be more original. I meant to go lightly on them. If they bring up a point, and it's been discussed a lot, well, they're new. They're meant to. Let's show them how good it is.

    This...

QUOTE

Why is it so bad when someone is nicely told that their topic has been brought up before, so-and-so descision was reached and perhaps they could read the FAQ?

isn't bad. If it's done like that, sweet! I agree! It's when the 'RTFM Search n00b' brigade hop on.

And incidental : I don't mind people disagreeing with me. I disagree with everyone else, you're extended the same courtesy.
