Movie You Like, But Everyone Else...

Since we're on the topic of movies recently.
What about the film every critic, your friends, their moms, their dads, and their first cousins say it sucks, but you really like?

Mine is Robocop 3.

I mean when I saw it, I thought it was the best Robocop ever. Then I read the review, every single one of them bash it senselessly.
I still couldn't understand. I thought the whole production was very good.

    Blade Runner

While I loved it, my close friends & relatives didn't like it, didn't read much reviews.

Somebody on the AVP2 forums made it their #1 most hated movie and said not to even rent it, but I liked it.

The Taking of Pelham 123, damn good 1970s film but no bugger has heard of it and if I try to explain it they say its a load of crap.

The Fith Element is one of my top ones, many MANY people chalk it up as crap, I love it. It isn't "good" but it is "fun", look, the plot is silly, the charachters are silly, the action is GREAT, etc etc so it comes out not as a masterpiece of film, but instead something you watch wihen you want a few cheap thrills

    WHY?

the graphix were great I admit that

    but the story...
I expect much better out of a squarsoft game, so why should I get less out of a movie?

honestly I think it was primarily that the ending sorta, umm, sucked and thus left me with a very bad taste inmy mouth about the entire thing

oh, and I am seroius, I wana know why yalls seem to like it

Definetely the Olsen Twin Movies...Definetely...Ok no, absolutely not.

I thought The Final Fantasy movie was pretty cool, I was hoping to see something along the lines of the games, or not have everbody die at the end and the world crumble and everything dies...that would have been nice

Amelie was kickass, that chick was soo cute.

Die Hard 3 - Everyone I hae talked too said it sucked the most. But IMHO Samuel L. Jackson + Bruce Willis = Win!

The Matrix - Got beat down by the critics for supposedly not having an original plot. But seriously, how many movies have you seen in the bast 5 years that take place in the near future where humans are being used to power the very machines that enslave them and only 1 man has been given the ability to destroy the simulated world they all live in? Anyone? Beuller?

Im going to love it when Reloaded opens to record sales while the critics try to diss it because its not the bubble gum pop action movie thats been getting shoved down everyone's throat.

Unbreakable - Most underapreaciated movie OF ALL TIME. After I saw this I was just in total shock at the ending, yet even after seeing The Sixth Sense I hadn't heard anything about it. Apparently people found it boring, its not as much of a thriller as Sixth Sense, its more of a movie you sit down and REALLY watch.

Mission Impossible - Wow. I had to watch this movie about 4 or 5 times before I knew what the plot was about. After about 3 more viewings I was still picking up new clues and tidbits. Not bad story telling, but a complex little puzzle rather. It had an excellent "secret agent" feel too it, like Bond but more American. Too bad MI2 sucked so much (and was hyped 10x more).

    Waynes World 1 & 2 - Just plain funny.

    ------

I use www.rottentomatoes.com as my movie guide, its a average of a bunch of movie critic's scores put together. Pretty good, but alot of the critics they use are full of BS and have no idea what a movie is supposed to be like.

BTW, Anyone else here betting the Matrix: Reloaded & Revolutions DONT win Academy Awards simply because they are going against the formula ridden grain of Hollywood? It was really sad when Chicago won Best Picture, I don't know a single person who saw it or many people who said good things about it. Academy Awards = Who has more money to buy the judges off.

I'll go with Tank Girl instead. It didn't even get to the theaters in Sweden but I must have seen it like 7-8 times on video. Love the soundtrack and the personality of Tank girl. The evil dudes are sooo evil "You shouldn't own pets. There's a water shortage" or "You've been stealing water. Not smart"

As for films that everyone else loves but I don't I must say Lord of the Rings. I was sittinga and watching my watch the whole film thruw. I have the same problem with the books. They are wellwritten but I don't like the story. I think the cartoon version of lord of the rings was better. Nice mix of drawing styles

possibly, but I actualy went in not expecting too much
Ihave a general dislike of movies that have been coming out as of late, they have a tendancie to suck.

I donno, I just didn't like it (Again I really didn't like the ending, it was just sorta weak. To little leading up to the plot twist, as upposed to FF games where you can often get a good idea that something is fugged.... I dono)

I love a good intellectual movie. Unfortunately, most of my friends seem to only enjoy the movies where they don't have to think. They can sit in the theatre, eat their popcorn, and let Hollywood present the movie to them in the dumbest possible way using the most base-level language, and they'd love it because it has an explosion or two or maybe a few nice martial arts fight scenes.

Some good intellectual or semi-intellectual movies in my DVD collection include American Beauty, American Psycho, Fight Club, The Negotiator, and The Usual Suspects. I love them all, but everyone seems to cringe whenever I suggest watching one of them.

I liked A Beautiful Mind. Not many others I know liked it.

Final Fantasy's graphics didn't really impress me. Too often the characters lacked fluid movement. The "Thriller" secret movie featured characters with purposely strange movements - yet they didn't seem all that different from the movie. Really. I wasn't able to watch the entire movie, but what I saw really wasn't interesting.

Depends on what version you see. IMO the added scene at the end and the narration by H. Ford ruined the original film for me. Only when i saw the directors cut did i come to realise what a great film it is...
