    To anyone thinking about flaming this post: don't. I realize there has been a lot of words said over the zergling design, many of them less than nice. But it fully within Nightcrawler's right to request a model of this zergling. Anyone who'd like to try their hand, go for it. (: And if you want to try it yourself, Nightcrawler, more power to you.

    The 2 large sythes on the back could be changed to 2 smaller claws, Mainly beacuse thats old school. But 2 big old sythes shure does look cool though <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    2 smaller claws on each appendage that is

    yeh i like this one alot more.. i'm still not a great modeller so i dont think i'd do this very well. I'll give it a go however. That other concept model blabber or summing can wait.. or might just not bother.

    LOL <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> enforcer has some leverage now and hes taking full advatage of it <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    enjoy it cause you got me

    the v model idea: 2 claws hang over head when idleing but when you attack the 2 claws lunge forward. for leap you could just change the v model to its claws.

    when the model is it idle it could lower its claws closer to its body but when running they would be fully extended like in the pic. THis would salve the attack while moving problem, beacuse the zergling can attack while it moves <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Well the version I am planning on doing at some point had looks closer to this version than the other one being made does. Of course it also looks quite a bit different too. I wish my scanner was working or I would bost some of my concept sketches.

    Mix that version with the in game Starcraft version, the Warcraft 3 version and a tyranid Hormagaunt. Thats about as best as I can tell you without describing every aspect.

    NC, if your not going to be happy with other people's work, please at least TRY to learn modeling... it's not as hard as you think, but it requires more devotion than skill...

    i personally will take any model that is made, any version is close enough for me...but sunce your so adimant about acuracy, why not at least TRY...most people that try, don't fail...

    if you TRY, i'll be on the sidelines answering questions, giving you links, cheering you on... doing it yourself is the ONLY way to get things done good enough to please your taste for accuracy.

    ---don't take this wrong, this is not an insult, but an honest to goodness suggestion... try your hand at modeling, you might be suprised what you can create.

    i'm not telling you to stop pushing for your request, i'm not telling you to feel insulted, i'm telling you to feel humbled...you want your acuracy, but the modeler will cut corners, that eventually, you won't like...and can't do anything about...but if you know how to model, even just a little bit, you can go in, and modify, change, or create something you like.

    Take for instance my robot, i'm doing it by myself, because nobody listened to my requests, and when they did, it didn't turn out how i wanted. i have people on my sidelines, cheering me on... you haven't even started, and you've got people voulenteering to be on your sideline... all you need to do, is get off the bench, and become a player.

    Thank you for your post it was perfect! but if you read back a few posts youll see that i am trying to. I cant even get close to anything all i can make is squares and spheres and then when i screw with them it all goes to hell. SO how would you go about making a body? do yo use base shapes and then change them from there or do you add in and create your own polys

    LOL hahaha good idea but i dont think you could do that. or could you? cause then that would work....
  • DelarosaDelarosa Naturally Custom Join Date: 2002-11-29 Member: 10214Members, NS1 Playtester
    i prefer Vertex creation, it's more acurate when your working on "abstract" concept art.

    if you wait a few hours, i'll write you up a beginning tutorial... but in the mean time, i suggest the Modeling 101 feild, which is general, and when i was starting, everyone just said what i just said to you... but here's another, more specific tip, start with the 2nd tutorial by Scarecrow.... its in the MS3D section....

    use the vertex tool to create 3 vertices, then use the face tool, and connect them up (click on each vertice in succession)

    edit: damn my slow fingers, I'm going to bed <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Crawler, remember to change the 3D view to Flatshaded (right click on the 3D screen) and delete/re-do/reverse vertex order the black ones.... white ones mean that they will hold the skin, black means that they will not hold the skin data, and won't show up in game....

    Ok, I dont know **** about modelling... ...but I think i wanna learn.

  • NightCrawlerzNightCrawlerz Join Date: 2003-04-18 Member: 15609Members
    k i did it what happens if i get black faces? how do i make them white
  • DelarosaDelarosa Naturally Custom Join Date: 2002-11-29 Member: 10214Members, NS1 Playtester
    you have 3 verticies, and to asign a face to them, you can only click them in 2 different orders or "directions" counter clockwise, and clockwise... one will make black, one will make white... just depends on what side your looking at.

    Y'know , while this is one of the more "combustible" forums, I don't ever recall seeing any flames for peeps asking sensible modelling questions, or posting "My first models" threads.

    This is good, I suggest it remains this way.

    /me applauds

    btw, that "Modelling 101" sticky at the top has a stupid amount of info in it..

    Failing that, Google is your friend.

    Carry on all, no-one will diss your first models here ( and if they do, they can sod off quite frankly..)
    The idea here, is to get better and learn something in my opinion.

    DOH what i mean is how do you duplicate objects in milkshape i tried it but it didnt work
  • Psycho-Kinetic_Hyper-GeekPsycho-Kinetic_Hyper-Geek Join Date: 2002-11-18 Member: 9243Banned, Constellation
    Select the faces and duplicate selection. You can't copy and paste between different files unless you export it and then reimport it.
