Ok, this was already probably addressed but i will restate it here.

For windows servers:
Take the .dll file that u got with the mod and go to \ns\addons\metamod\dlls\
and put the .dll file there

Then you have to link it to the plugin.ini file which is in \ns\addons\metamod\
ex. win32 \addons\metamod\dlls\somemod.dll

For linux servers:
All the same above except the .dll files don't work on linux, only .so files, so use those instead of the .dll files.

Also if its linux, in the plugin.ini file to link it you have to use...
linux /addons/metamod/dlls/somemod.so

Thats it. Post any questions if u don't understand anything here.

I'm not catching hold of it
• That_Annoying_KidThat_Annoying_Kid Sire of Titles Join Date: 2003-03-01 Member: 14175Members, Constellation
win32 \addons\metamod\dlls\lerklift.dll
win32 \addons\metamod\dlls\manualsiege_MM.dll
win32 \addons\metamod\dlls\phase_eq.dll
is whats in the config file located in
C:\SIERRA\Half-Life\ns\addons\metamod

I'm missing something.........
umm... all the plugins are in
C:\SIERRA\Half-Life\ns\addons\metamod\dlls
same with the metamod Dll
should I add a line to my config
win32 \addons\metamods\dlls\metamod.dll

what huge glaring mistake have I made?
• Jim_has_SkillzJim_has_Skillz Join Date: 2003-01-19 Member: 12475Members, Constellation
The one mistake u are making is that you have to add the line to your plugin.ini file. That should be in the metamod folder, if it isn't there, then create a file called plugin.ini in your metamod folder. then add that win32 line in there. Then it should work.

mmkay

so what should I do with my config file then, what line should I put in there since I didn't back it up?

*smacks head*

no!
open plugins.ini in /ns/addons/metamod/
and add there the dll's you want to run.
I put my plugins in ns/dlls/, i also think that is what you should do and not in /ns/addons/metamod/dlls.

To get metamod to RUN, you need to have your liblist.gam file in the NS directory refer to the metamod dll.

If you download adminmod and run its installer, it will load up the proper liblist.gam file for you.

Liblist.gam tells half-life what .dll to use to run the game. By default, it points to hl.dll which is all well and good unless you want to run metamod or some such. If it points at hl.dll all you will get is half-life, which sounds like your problem.

when liblist.gam points at metamod, then Half-Life will run metamod FIRST, then metamod will run hl.dll and the game will start with metamod running. This allows metamod to do the cool plugin things to half-life.

Once metamod is running, metamod looks into its plugin.ini file and starts loading up addon .dlls like lerklift and unstuck pro. Do NOT put metamod's own dll in metamod's plugin.ini file. It won't help, and might hurt.

Once you start HL with the proper liblist.gam in place, go to your console and type "meta list" to see what metamod plugins you have up and running.

You can get the adminmod install files HERE.

Good Luck!

umm.. did you check to see if the file is there? I gave you the default location where metamod says to install the dlls. Basically you need to point that line in liblist.gam to where ever you have metamod installed
• MOMBorisMOMBoris Join Date: 2003-03-22 Member: 14777Members
NOTE: If you have NOT installed Adminmod yet, DO IT!! It will save you headaches.

It looks like everyone is giving the proper pointers and you should have it working...don't see what the problem is.

One thing I found: Make sure you have the latest MM version! (1.13.1 or whatever comes with Adminmod 2.50.50-51 and maybe 2.50.52 is too old)

MM 1.13.1 will not run the lerklift plugin(only one I tested). You need to update to at least 1.14 I believe to get it to work.

Get Metamod Dll v1.15.1. Just put the .dll file over top of the existing one in addons/metamod/dlls folder.

In the HLDS console window type "meta list" to see what plugins are running and if errors arose on loading them.

Good Luck!

For most people, it's just easy to install adminmod to get metamod. It does everything for you. You can always disable adminmod by commenting out the line in the plugin.ini file . But suit yourself, you have chosen the hard path(although you will learn more this way)

Make sure your plugins.ini is in the addons\metamod subdirectory of your NS directory.

Make sure that your plugins.ini lines look like this:

win32 addons/metamod/dlls/unstuck_mm.dll
(note that there is no slash before "addons"; I noticed you have them in an earlier example. Also, they should be forward-slashes, even on windows.)

Make sure that your plugin DLLs exist in the location that you specify in plugins.ini

If that fails, copy the text that is printed when metamod is loaded at server-start, and paste it into this forum. Also paste the output of 'meta list', typed in your HLDS console.

Last I checked, if you had metamod installed in the standard location, RCbot would load metamod automatically.

So, install RCbot per the instructions, and it *should* work.
