Announcing the Completion of a Fan-Ficti
Unknown Enemy: Uncertain Outcome is a fan-fiction story built upon the back-story of Natural Selection. After a year and a half of production, I’m pleased to finally call it “finished.” UE is 21 core chapters long, and includes two back-story pieces to better explain the plot. Her pages are a living record of the progress NS has made, and a clear evolution of fighting style and equipment can by seen in the characters as the game changed. If you’re looking for more insight into the world of Natural Selection, UE is the thing to read.

I remember reading the first chapters before release. I kind of forgot about it though, it'll be nice to catch up on it!

great job rob, that was possibly the best fan-fic I've ever read. Can't wait for your next novel or whatever you want to call it.

This is quite good! I've only read Part I, but homework calls! I really like how realistic this is - people wounded in battle, remembering old traumatic battles, the whole 9 yards! I'll probably post more when I read the whole thing, but dang! I've never wanted to rocket-launcher an Onos so bad in my life!

So we supposed to assume that they survived no? If yes, how. If not, why did O'Neil go to Zeriks house.
• GwahirGwahir Join Date: 2002-04-24 Member: 513Members, Constellation
They're obviously dead, I just wanted a little more info on how. More specifically, what happened to the dropship.

Hey! Quit telling me what is going on. I've only read chapter 1. Of course, I just shouldn't have read the posts

***Spoiler***

Did they survive?
I dunno...it's up to you.

In either case, O'Neil was making going to each of the marine's families to inform them of their loss.

**Spoiler discussion rages on**

downer, that's like "The Tiger and the Lady" The story ends with the guy opening one of the doors and you don't know whether he gets mauled by a tiger, or gets to marry the girl.

besides, if they survived, they wouldn't just up and dissappear.

Nice work Rob! For those of you that don't realize it, Rob is pretty much the pioneer of the NS fan-fiction community. He was the first and the original. I have a lot of catching up to do! Give it a read, it's great stuff.

I loved it, even though I felt that the quality decreased slightly the further the story progressed, with all the typos and all. Still, it's an outstanding piece of work and I'm glad to have read it. Good job

Though I must say that I think the nothing incident was a bit far fetched and I prefer happy endings.

T'was a good story! It reminded me somewhat of Heinlein's "Starship Troopers" in feel, and that's a VERY good thing! I thought the ending could have had a bit more to it - the way it is now lacked the proper oomph! for such an otherwise great story. Very detailed with very developed characters and a good overall story. It's not like you just snagged the NS backstory and worked with it - you added your own weapons when you wanted, different things worked different ways for increased realism... Just good stuff in general. I'd probably read this and enjoy it if I had no idea what natural selection is.

Overall an excellent read, especially for your first real story ( i think you said that somewhere). If you happen to write any more just let me know

Hey good stuff, I read the first few chapters and it looks pretty solid. Gonna take awhile to read the rest, but looks good so far.
