<div class="IPBDescription">none of ur old posts help me with this</div> i am running counterstrike retail and it is patched up2 1.0.0.3. everything works exept natural selection i got a msg about to many msg's or sumthin i reinstalled ns and it seemed to b ok but now when i try to run a lan game i get a black screen witch dose nothing and cannot get out of it i have to ctr-alt-dlt it
whats the problem with it i have a 2 computer lan on dsl and wish to play ns it looks like a good game and tactics n team work are a must type of game i like unlike cs where i can walk thru and own every1 alone

as for your problems:
You seem to be saying:
1) For the black sreen for the lan, try to hit esc a few times, also see if you are getting any sound (If the game actualy starte then you should beable to make some noise by jumping)
2) check to see if you didn't accidently click the 'run as dedicated server'
3) scroll down through this board and read all of the 'NS with CS retail' threads to see if any one else had a problem like yours
4) also tell us what hapens if you try to join a game
If none of this helps give us your SysSpecs
be detailed please (CPU, RAM, VidCard, SoundCard, OS, your settings in HL specificly the video ones)
Also make sure you have the latest and greatest drivers for your hardware (this is just good practice anyway)
system specs:
NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 440 (latested drivers are installed)
AMD Athlon XP 2000+
512 RAM
running at 2mg
OS: XPhome edition
not sure on my vid card
im on adsl connection
on my hl settings:
vid setting Open GL res: 1153x864
all mods work fine including Day of Defeat which i have only just put on
im running ESSpray, Multi Bot Launcher and of course bots which currently include podbot and a bot for DoD on this subject is there bots for NS ?
do u need to know anything else ? add me to your msn so we can get the problem resolved.
possibly could i ask for a tutorial or walk through on installing ns from the start (like fresh from the cs retail pack) so it would include what needs to be installed exactly and i can reinstall my cs to the exact instructions given ?
back to the problem which is an unusual one i do not get a msg but the black screen stays (it is ctrl-alt-dlt'able) but i do hear the msg prompt that windows makes
the msg i got before i reinstalled cs retail to try fix the problem was:

ok, kill all external nonviatal programs before starting up (those bots etc)
have you tried joining an o/l game
Try ussing an external server browser (<a href='http://www.udpsoft.com/eye/' target='_blank'>ASE</a>) and then join a game (this has fixed a few of my random problems)

as for mods
go over to <a href='http://www.planethalflife.com' target='_blank'>PHL</a> they have a list of hosted sights that contains most of the good mods out there.
and I don't use any form of IM (I hate them with a passion)

you ARE ussing the shortcut from your desktop (don't)
either:
launch CS and then go to custom games and activate NS or look thrugh other threads to see how to fix your desktop icon

i have reinstalled ns 5 times no avail
i access ns from both desktop (sometimes it will do that weird cs thing),start menu bar and via cs or any other mod under custom games (Activate) a lil help my email is in this thread sum1 take pitty on me and add me to msn plz i dieing to play it. ill be playing gamespy arcade servers
on another note where would 1 dl the resident evil mod and has any1 seen the new 40K mod comming out easter wit space marines vs chaos marines vs eldar looks good weaps jetpacks terminator armor and even vehcles

again, that error is something I DON'T KNOW
so do these things:
1) kill off all external non necesary programs (those bots and what not)
2) run NS from CS --> Custom Games --. Activate NS
3) try ussing an external server browser (all seeing eye or gamespy)
Does this error pop up in HL or is it a windows error msg (windows error messages will change the focus off of HL and will have the *ding*)

launching through gamespy dosenot work it tells me i have an incorrect version. i get this same error if i try to run DoD on gamespy to invalid error or sumthing i think i may need a gamespy client verson of dod so thats no biggy im just trying to get ns working need to get around this error msg

msg it is a windows prompt msg not a hl msg

what version of CS are you running? I have found 1 other instance of this and it was b/c some one was running an old version of HL (google is your friend)
