You forgot the C&C Generals == teh suck
Despite its obvious AI and pathfinding problems, it irons out in replay value if you play with or against human players. Computers are redundant but assuredly long game if you play against 4+. Human players usually don't last more than 10 minutes (in game) on the average.
Hoorah! Doom says everything I was about to so I don't have to! Yay!

I think its even better than Tiberian Sun, but not maybe mp... TS's mp really was fun. I liked that you could ally with a friend and storm a base together ect.
But StarCraft has better single player... because in TS its just like "Get to NOD'S/GDI's base and destroy everything". In StarCraft its some stealth missions (maybe some in TS, dont remember, but they arent fun their... if it was one thought).
I like the species in SC too... But the marines are the best... because they have the über good tank.

now now comprox, some people <b>do</b> like to spend their sunday afternoons eating celery and watching paint dry, its pretty fun... i never really liked sc that much, i always liked the whole cnc series a lot better.
I'm also going to assume you've already considered WarCraft3 as an option.
I don't play strategy games too much, but I've heard nothing but good things about Mideival: Total War and Shogun: Total War. Try www.totalwar.com and see which demos you want from their downloads section, and make your decision from there.
Generals has some serious pathfinding issues, I'll admit that. However the gameplay is slick and the wonderful diveristy of the teams is excellent. The GLA hero is great in the right circumstances; his vehicle snipe ability is so annoying. Hit Overlords if you see them ever.
Also, SEXIEST NUKES EVER!!

Best single player RTS missions EVER. EVER. Someone tell me I'm wrong, because I'm not. Supposedly WC3 has better multiplayer (I don't believe it, the single player I tried was just so cruddy I couldn't bring myself to try the mp), but nobody I've talked to denies that SC's single player campaign was the awesomest thing ever.
And the multiplayer is of course nothing to sneeze at either. I'd still be playing now if Battle.net and my firewall didn't have such issues.
