<div class="IPBDescription">doesnt mean you have to F4</div> The other day in a random public server the aliens had 3 hives and Onos. Usually this means death for the marines. However this time we the marines researched everything, Full tech, and had enough resources saved up for ample amounts of HA, HMGs, Grenade Launchers, jet packs, the works.
If any one was there, it was a battle Royal of <!--emo&::onos::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tiny.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tiny.gif'><!--endemo--> sized proportions. The map was NS_Hera and the Marines had reloacted to the reception room. The marines managed to Seige one hive near processing into oblivian and where well on the way into the other when we ran out of resources and the Aliens got the third hive back.
But hey, even with Onos and Redemption and numerous fades it took the Kharaa almost 45 min. From the first Onos attack in Processing, the 15 min battle in holoroom and then to the final Alamo shoot out in Reception. The marines fought off 4 Onos rushes, 7 Fade/ Skulk rushes in the base itself and all the other engagements everywhere else.
I mangaged to take out an Onos with my last pistol mag before he redemptioned. Marines where sooo close. This should be an inspiration to everyone. Dont give up and Dont F4. You never know what can happen. If it looks hopeless, dont make it any more easy for the enemy. If you are going to go down, go down standing up.

we all know that fighting off onos is possible, inspiration or not im tired of seeing threads like this.
at least all the threads about aliens winning or marines winning went away
Also cpl.davis while this is meant as an inspiration this might make it even more tempting to f4 for other people ,45 extra minutes of gameplay just to lose??? most people will feel they have nothing to show for the tremendous defeat... oh and if you actually fought off that many p3rd hive aliens that easily.... The aliens sucked, hate to tell ya but when a 3rd hive alien has trouble taking out a couple has/gl/hmg/welder stuff they dont deserve a 3rd hive at all.
i mean comon 3rd hive = spore/babbler/bilebomb/onos how did it take them so long? a good team of all fades could have thrashed you. (umbra/spore)
ie. We just lost a room everyone F4. oops I built the wrong building and wasted 25 resources better F4. I dont like the teams better F4 and restart, There is a chance we might lose F4 all, "my team sux Im gonna F4", we just lost one hive out of 2 better F4.
Or in my example as well. As anyone can see most of the best NS gaming stories come from longer games. Whether you lost or not, people still had a very enjoyable gaming expirience from putting in such a great effort. Not everyone (not saying you do Homicidal Puppy) plays just to win. A large portion of gammers play NS to have fun. That game for myself and many in that server proves how much more we got out of the expiriece by trying. True we still lost, but hey, if you never try you will never suceed.

There is only 1 exception, and that is if your the last player on the team and theres no base/hive left.
Theres a difference between <i>"LOOSING"</i> and <i>"LOST".</i>
The Aliens get the win and the Marines get the loss.

Hey, I often find that the most exciting part of a game is being/watching the last marine left avoiding the onslaught of bloodthirsty aliens as he hides out/jet packs around the map. The most entertaining chases happen then.
Amen. Grow some balls and fight on,
i never said a loss was a bad game. I simply implied that 45 minutes of waiting to die... is torture to some people (I dont mind but im not the example am I). I mean if you were able to fight off that many rushes by all means you should have been able to take at least one hive down (all die = all skulks jp/welder/hmgs and gls your team was throwing around) you marines should have had that game if the aliens werent skilled enough to combat your defense (as i stated rather easy to do)
Basically, I was just saying that while this may be an inspiration to some it might be a complete waste of time to others. (including the aliens who somehow won)
another thing i was saying is that there are sooooo many "dont f4 threads" that its pointless now... kinda like drug commericals (this is your brain on drugs... who cares??? noone thats who. )
