JPing into power is then fairly easy. Job than. As the Onos redempts hes gonna be on low health and the JPer hurtles from the rafters spitting HMG fire, being med spammed by the commander if and when necessary. You could even have built a PG up there

But i dont think that the hive room is empty. I mean there has to be at least few OC's.
After the aliens lost two hives and still want to keep fighting, then the insane OC, DC spamming in the one remaining hive starts.

Oh, and aliens had three hives, so probably they also had sensory chamber. And it is possible that there is one sensory in the last hive. When the jetpacker gets close, sensory will show him at the hive sight and make sneaking impossible.

On onos is big fat and must walk - why didn't you use mines? One pack per doorway would have ensured he didnt get very far before redempting.

Because Onos walk right over proxy mines with triggering them.

And you'd want more than a pack....

Well, from KMO's post they didn't have 3 hives for long and had only just taken power, so i'm not expecting OCs in the rafters or mass OCs at the bottom of power.

If they did in that short time put a sensory at power by the time they've figured out where the JPer is the Onos should have redempted at least once with any luck.

I'm not saying it's a sure fire thing or anything, just an option.

Mines? Good thought, like it. Shame they don't set off floor mines, but wall ones would do the trick quite well. Another thing that seems obvious with hindsight, but wasn't at the time.

Thinking about the "hive redemption ambush", I still don't see it working. However, it's a good bet that given the sequencing of the cargo takedown that Power Silo hive had been used to build sensory. In which case a good strat would be to mine the hell out of marine base, cargo and red room to help keep the onos and friends out, forget the heavy armour, switch everyone to JPs (assuming HA pubbers could be persuaded to kill themselves and pick the guns back up - don't forget we had people who turned into statues the moment they got JPs because they wanted an HMG to go with it), and go aerial to just stop them building cargo while knocking out all the DCs we could find. The onos wouldn't be a threat to JP marines, they had no fades, so half the team could work on chipping away at their structures, while the other half stayed defending against the onos, welding and topping up mines. Getting all their DCs down with JPs shouldn't be too hard, and then it would be a stroll home.

If Power Silo hive was able to build DCs then it's a bit trickier, but again if we had any good JPers (not sure that we did), taking down silo hive would have been possible.

The only tricky bit would have been keeping 2 or more resource towers up against an onos.

I think mines are the answer, tbh. How many mine blasts would it take to redeem an onos? Probably not that many, I suspect.

I do doubt that this particular marine team had the organisation to pull any of this off - if so, they deserved to lose anyway. The marines who refused to phase to viaduct deserved an onos spanking.

Ex. 3 shots to kill a carapaced lerk when fully upgraded with fuly upgraded shotty should be 2 if direct hits.
Lerks take more that 17 spikes to kill full armormed rine i beleive. I got check this one but i KNow for absolute sure you can drop a lerk in 2 shotgun shots.

Well, I did accidentally use the figures from 1.03, but they shouldn't be that different. Note though, that the information is for only 5 pellets hitting the target. The page for 1.04 has a damage number for each pellet. I believe the number of pellets actually fired is somewhere around 10, so assuming they all hit that thing is in for massive damage. If you want to double check some of the figures, I wouldn't mind hearing what you find!

Also, some people mentioned grenade launchers, but they only do about half the amount of damage that a full blast of shotty does and there is always a chance with the slowness of the grenade you will miss and the Onos will walk by it.

If you get a couple shotties, that Onos really should be redeemed fairly quickly every time. Just walk over to their base (maybe have one guy move your base in case the Onos goes a different route then your assaulters), redeeming or possibly even killing the Onos with massive shotgun damage. When you get there kill the Onos for good (if he's not dead already!)

Oh, and here's the 1.04 stats page:

Redemption onos are a joke, virtually no lasting power in a battle

If you had a full team of HA you should have been welded up by the time the Onos returned and been able to mow him down no problem each time.

You don't need to get close to a sensory chamber for it to add you to hivesight. You need to TOUCH THE DAMN THING. In other words: it never happens with smart marines.

NO. If you go near sensory chamber all aliens will see you, just like if you were parasited.
When you take some distance for a sensory, you cant be seen in hive sight anymore, unless if you touch it.

Anyway, in my opinion this topic is a bit silly. You're whining that the aliens actually made a comeback from 1 hive? That happens *so* rarely compared to marine comebacks it's sad

sensory will spot you like a skulk does. if any alien sees you you appear in yellow, even if you arent parasited. touching the sensory will do that.
