Hey I was just wondering which sound that they used on the main screen for www.natural-selection.org (in the flash snippet). I know that it is in the sound folder somewhere because I have heard it in game, but I don't know where. Does someone know offhand?

[off-topic]The title of Whinemaster doth no longer do thee justice. I hereby dub thee...the Spammaster![/off-topic]

I hadn't realised it was in the sound folder, I can't remember hearing it when I had a root through.

Also off topic, your sig says STAMEDE, not STAMPEDE

On topic, I'm sorry I can't help.

Which music are you talking about? The loops of ambient atmospheric stuff that plays while you're on the main ns.org page? That has music from the losing theme (The one you hear when your team loses), as well as many of the different ambient sound effects mixed in with it (Beeping, engines throbbing, hissing, etc...).

By the way, am I the only one who can listen to that loop stuff for hours while on the forums? I love it!

hi

its located in your C:\SIERRA\Half-Life\ns\music directory by default.

u can add in your own .mp3 files and the game will play them at random

I want the one on the Natural-Selection.org homepage. Does anyone have it in .wav or .mp3? If anyone can rip it off of that flash... (don't if its illegal, but I don't think it is. I am giving credit to Charlie and the rest of the Dev team when I am done with this little project which I will hopefully post up on the forums. (For n00bs)

--Oh and thanks for pointing out the problem with my sig, I was too tired to notice it when I was making it but I have no excuse for not seeing it up until now.

i know where it i supposed to be, but I don't think that the exact sound file that is on the title page is in the c:/sierra/counter-strike/ns/sound I think it was spliced to include a lot of the ambience. Does anyone have it or can get it for me? It is in the flash on the title page, i would guess that there is some way to get it off of that flash.

btw... there are two on the title page, the menu and the sound. The sound is the one that when you play it says music: on or music:off at the bottom and plays.

The front page of n-s.org uses a random sound collage using various sound bits from NS, it's not one sound.

Bah, I was just downloading Macromedia Flash trial to see if I could get it for that guy...

Well you can't open the flash-files even if you have flash...

You need a flash decompiler, Sothink made one, but as a shareware you cannot rip anything, just see the .swf structure and look/hear at individual objects. You should be able to override that by maybe connecting your line-out on the sound card to the line-in with a jack and registering a wav while the music plays, or maybe using some sound plugin that permits to register directly on the pc by playing the music as it is.

Ya..
That was my thought to
But as Flay said
It's not one file
It's random

Does anyone know how I could record the collage? I know its random, but I will just use a certain amount of time, it doesn't really matter what order the sounds go in. Any random sequence will do. I will do it myself, all I need is someone to tell me how to do it.

And understanding...
Anyway 1 of the ways to record it would be to get a cord from speaker to mic directly..
Other would be to hold mic in front of speaker ( sucks )
And yet another would be to get some software which records the sound-out

I personally like the Installer music. That and the background picture made me jittery with excitement. Wish Ingame music was that scary.

muh WTH?

You mean the flash menu bar or the really lame flash intro to the old NS site?

There are two flash movies on the natural-selection homepage. 1] is the menu 2] is the sound and the little sound: off / sound: on button. I want the music from 2] I know it is random, but oh well. Can someone just get it off of the flash movie. It should be in your browser cache. I don't know how.

really now Matt, have you tried this lovely little program called "sound recorded" I think that your 2.6 GHz processor should be able to run that complicated program, and while you do that, you have the NS website open, and then record!
