Yay for Google :)
Anyhow, I stumbled upon a late beta of Bast while searching Google for Relic25. Below, are the major differences. I only wonder how gameplay would be affected

BTW: Refinery hive used to have sparks flying out of that lava thingie, looked really cool!

Only one RT in processing! Thats a great idea, as relocating there is almost as common as relocating to cargo on that other map which I aint sill learnt the name of...

Yes I did mean Atmospheric Processing :| Why do people always assume I mean the one on Hera!? It happened last night on a server! Its kinda hrd trying to type 'marines inc to atmos proc!' whilst they run at me with their lmg... So I just call it proc.

Or perhaps this was an older verson? One that underwent editing before being released in 1.whatever.

I searched google and found this map in was last updated april 1st. I'm not at home so I can't play the map though...

You need to copy all the models from the ns/models/ns_bast directory into the ns/models directory, and rename the bsp. Then it plays just fine.

I don't see the pic with the refinery particle system changes, but that was a bug on my part that's been fixed for 1.1, so you'll see them soon enough.

The second node was added in atmosphere because that area of the map was never used.

Would that be "particle generation on impact?" that you're talking about? Because I remember Relic saying that the sparks became smoke when they hit surfaces.

I thought marines couldn't build in water. Having a node in water obviously is a problem then.

yeah and isnt an alien rt way too high? woudnt it go tru the bridge above the water?

    we'll see anyway

And, unless it was moved, wasnt there already one rez node just around the corner there? right behind that skulk

That wasn't there as it says further up somewhere. That resnode in the water was later moved to it's current position in the corner.

oh and I think the rt could be placed as aliens... It's just that the model looks so big, the hitbox is just normal structure size... That's why you can hide in it

Hmm so if those pics were from before the v1 release then processing is still a decent relocation area You could hold 4 res nodes from that point, and on a large server that would give the marines a win almost every time...

And the devs don't know that ?

When I'm comm I usually don't relocate to atmospheric processing unless the aliens are in refinery. If their in refinery, I can tech jetpacks and take down the hive very fast. If the aliens are in engine, I relocate to tram tunnel (below feedwater), and if the aliens are in feedwater, I either relocate to main aft or I stay put.

    Just my $0.02

It was a pretty late build of the map, the textures and everything were the same you see in the released version. Only major things that were changed was some of the vents, more detail was added and they were moved around, and the nodes as you see in the pics.

In case any admins wanna run the map and see how it plays (it requires you move the models in the ns/models/ns_bast directory into the ns/models directory) the download is here: http://home.ec.rr.com/relic25/ns_bast4-02.zip

I think that it is cool to see how one of the maps progressed like that... It really shows how much testing went into the maps in order to come up with the maps that we have now. Good Stuff. Google is the best!
