<div class="IPBDescription">Post you details here</div> After a little bit of hassle i've got my
Radeon 9000 Pro (128 DDR) working nicely.
I think the best way to test your cards capabilies
is to try the Black Hawk Down demo from NovaLogic.
It runs a system test on things like TW&L.
Here's what i got:

So i went with those settings and here's how it looked.
It played quite well (better than expected) with no
    threatening slow-down.

Graphics card? Use Lynx in a Slackware install w/o X, you nubs!

J/K, I've got a GeForce3 Ti 200, picking up a 9700 Pro this summer after the FX comes out and the prices drop on the "old" cards. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

April Fools' was yesterday, omae... nVidiot can't produce enough of the GFfx'en to actually bring them to the store shelves yet. Unless you're getting one of the reviewer preview cards that they managed to steal away somehow. In such case, good luck missing the slot closest to your AGP slot, having your computer sound like a particularly noisy vacuum cleaner any time you put it into a 3D game, and keeping your CPU's core temperature down from what the 'FX flow' can't handle. Not to mention still getting whooped by the R9800 Pros (on shelves now) pretty easily. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

As for my own setup, got an R9000 Pro 128 in Hivemind, Herc 3D Prophet 4500 64MB (Kyro 2) in Archon, and an R9500 Pro 128 in Kael.

And yes, R9000 cards are great, especially for the price you can snag 'em for.

Its a VERY good card if you get it for a decent price.
I got mine from a nice man on eBay.co.uk for about £50
less that the stores. It's a HUGE step up from my GeForce
    4 MX 440.
I had some hassle with the previous drivers (Nvidia 41.09)
because it was quite annoying finding every single key and
entry in the registry. But i got there in the end.

    Oh and...... it's DY357LX not "dyeslex" <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.natural-selection.org/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

GeForce4 I got for Xmas, before that, RivaTNT2.

I was muy impressed, it is well worth upgrading your video card, it is the best improvment you can get IMO, and its not really that expensive (i got mine for under $100)

Heres how to do the most comprehensive and challenging benchmark to date:

    1) Download Kazaa
    2) Download the Doom 3 Alpha demo....and maybe some pron <looks around>
    3) Install and start demo
    4) Congrats, if you didnt have a slowdown, your computer is officially a Silicon Graphics workstation!

I tried running D3, fresh Windows XP install, Geforce 4, tweaked to the max, got maybe 15fps at BEST. Pretty crazy stuff. Im REALLY trying to think, can graphics possibly get any more realistic then Doom 3? I mean, processors can't really get much faster (the 4ghz barrier is gonna be hell to get to) and graphics cards can't improve much (or <i>try</i> too for that matter, *cough* Geforce FX *cough*).

TenSix... duh. The leaked D3 Alpha ONLY has the rendering path for the Radeon 9700 Pro. NOTHING will run it over 30fps, except that particular card, as it's so tweaked to hell and back for the R300 core. Even the RV300 takes major hits.

And for next-gen systems, just download MadOnion's 3DMark 2003. If you can score above 3500, you have a kickass machine. 3DMark 2002SE is a better actual bench though, as it gives real performance readings of current-day games, instead of the ones assumed to be coming out in three to five years.

hehe, my brand new Asylum built Geforce 4 Ti4200

Its Über "elite", framerates are appaulingly high and it's overclocking potential is staggering, only problem is when i installed it, i had to move my monitor, and it came too close to an unsheilded magnet, my right lower corner of my monitor has a nasty blue-shift.... it sucks.... anyone got a decent monitor for under 20 bucks (decent= @least 1024x768, 60 hz refresh)?

    Lucky ****....

I'm using a GF3Ti200, but it's clocked up nicley, and the new cooling device makes it just like a Ti500.

I'm looking at a high-end GF4, after the FX comes out. Add a new HD to replace the 10 gig bigfoot in the old computer, and I'll be alright <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.natural-selection.org/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->.

    I'm using a not-so-impressive 64mb Radeon 7000.

I bought it with the intent of it being the temporary upgrade between my ol' TNT2 and whatever top-of-the-line card I decided to buy a few months later, but unfortunately I joined the ranks of the unemployed shortly after buying the Radeon. Things are looking up for me, employment-wise, so I'll most likely be able to get that new card soon. <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->

Running a multimonitor setup with 2 cards, each of these cards can drive 2 monitors, but I only have enough desk space for 2 monitors. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Card 1 - AGP - Chaintech GeForce 4 Ti4800 with a copper ThermalTake fan/sink
Card 2 - PCI - Elsa 511 GeForce 2 card with a Zalman Heat Pipe setup

I dont think I'll find a decent replacement for that GF2 PCI card for a long time, and Im gonna wait for the nVidia card after the FX, the FX isnt worth upgrading to ATM. And I dont do ATI cards, they blew up mine and a friend's systems with thier crappy driver package. Never had a stability problem with the Detonator drivers.

    geforce ti 4200 128MB, o/c to 275/500

i feel sorry for those with tnt2 and lower. geforce2 gts or mx is really minimum for DECENT.

for those with crappy vid cards, save 5 bucks here and there. eventually you'll have enough money for at least a radeon 9000 or geforce4mx or a geforce2 gts.

BioHaz, a lot of the older drivers were the big PITA about ATI cards.. the thing is, ATI's been used to playing catch-up. Now that they're the king of the hill speed-wise (<b>and</b> noise-wise against the reviewer-copy GFFXes) they've been using their time effectively... the Catalyst 3.2 drivers install sweet and easy, and automatically detect the 'best' settings for your particular AGP interface (though if it determines that you can use Fast Writes, you have to tell it three or four times NOT to use them, considering how glitchy FW mode can be).

Also, the image quality is no contest... the only thing that can touch the Radeons on that respect is a Parhelia, which.. pretty much whomps EVERYTHING.
Not to even mention the benchmarks performed between the R9700 and the top-end GFfx in the AA and Aniso fields.. besides putting them to outright shame speed-wise (Radeon only losing about 10-20% framerate compared to over 50% on the GFFX), the 'free' AA on the GFFX is a joke.. it doesn't actually DO anything to the picture that could be called AA.

Maybe that's why I see the 90% cloaking of v1.04 as being so outright useless... the R9000 in 32-bit mode leaves cloaked Aliens sticking out like sore thumbs, possibly due to the better color calculations. That or it's just my eyes. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> Must find a friend with a GF4 to watch play, and hope they come across a cloaked Alien.

    I've got a GeForce 4 Ti4400 with 128mb DDR goodness.

Somehow I feel kind of robbed since I really can't tell the difference between this one and my previous card, a GeForce 2 GTS 64mb.
