Err are you sure you played with Myg0ts? If you did I don't see how winning would be possible, and they really target mods with lots of people as to attract more attention, which is really what their out to get. When you see a blatant cheater, just leave, that usually gets em **** off.
Reminds me of this one guy on Voogru, he faked us out for awhile. He was VERY careful with his aimbot, except daily he would walk into rooms and take out entire teams of skulks on a single LMG clip (im not kidding).
His downfall? His own idiocy of how the game worked, his script or whatever blurted out a phrase every few minutes. Somone googled that phrase and found it was part of a cheat script. God bless Google <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
IMHO, the best anti-cheat is to make obvious cheaters miserable. Just the other night my roommate was being waxed in cs on a "team only" view mode set server. So I loaded up the ol'cs to watch for myself and it was horribly obvious.
Then, after confirming he was using a wall hack, I proceded with phase 2. Let me put it this way, I would NEVER EVER do this to a non-lamer, non-hax0r type player. I fight fire with fire. I become a lamer to only the other lamer. I sit and harass, get in the way, because wall hacks don't see through people so I sit in front of him knifing him. Every insult imaginable I throw at him. This particular hacker started threatening me that his brother was a CAL admin and since he had my wonID he'd have me banned from alllllll the servers in CS. I laughed at him and just kept pestering him. I could tell he wasn't having fun because he'd be whining on the voice comm. Every time I caused him to die, I'd sit and laugh at him. Then he'd start using speed hax to get around me. I'd stop to tell everyone where he went. Next round, I'd do it all again. When he died, I'd stop and sit make fun of him. He would change teams and I'd be like "okay, would a ct like to trade me spots so I can keep harassing him?" and after gladly trading teams (something most people would never do... be in the hax0rs cross hairs) I'd continue to pester and bother him and he'd continue to send me retarded threats about being banned from all of cs. It went on for well over an hour. He wouldn't give up. But I could just tell he wasn't having alot of fun anymore even though he left with a score of 114 - 47 (started as 40 - 4 when I came on the server... 24/7 de_rats server)
And that's the point. It is my opinion that the best way to beat cheaters and lamers is to make them not have fun themselves anymore. Sure I could just go to another server. But I'd rather not give these people the satisfaction of making people quit. I'm not saying everyone should do it. With some of those losers, you have to be thick skinned and light hearted to put up with the comebacks. <b> Nonetheless, I applaud the anti-cheat support going into 1.1 The more often you have to update your hax to counter updated anti-cheats, the more of a pain it becomes. The threat of being banned from all servers (FOR REAL) also makes it less appealling. The less appealling and fun it becomes, the less it will be done. </b>
<!--QuoteBegin--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->I went observer to watch their team and maybe learn from them.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
I remember this one leet clan that pops out and shoot you exactly when they played marines on a CAL ns match while scrimin, Some people can be really good, but hacking is lame, I don't see any glory of cheating, why? I mean everyone feels good when they play well and don't need no helpers, ns already has parasites and motion, so why do people cheat? it's just so stupid.
Whilst I don't see that many cheaters I DO see a lot of people who turn their muzzle flash and skulk-bite model off. I could say they're really that good, but I frankly don't accept that; someone who is bite-spamming at 3 marines and yet manages to hit every one with pinpoint accuracy is just a little suspect. I'll be interested to see how many ""elite" skulks" suddenly lose their skills when 1.1 comes out.
Hello ladies. Interesting thoughts and perspectives from some of you. Anyway, some comments: 1) I'm posting this just for the heck of it; I will not be using this username or revisiting this thread, so don't even bother sending me a message or addressing me in your following posts. 2) I am a cheater. 3) Why do I cheat? Time is $, and who wants to waste time playing a game you can't dominate. Winning is always everything to everyone, unless you're a communist or something. And for those of you who say I'd suck without cheats, you're right. So? 'My mom?' Lol. Ok.
<span style='color:white'>I'm trying and trying, but I can't come up with anything that shows better how screwed up one has to be to cheat.</span>
4) Cheaters who tweak their aimbots to 'miss' a certain % of the time: ridiculous. I guess there are some cheaters who do that to 'avoid' trying to make it too obvious. Those guys are just stupid. They are still gonna be suspected/accused at one point or another, so they might as well enjoy themselves whilst they can. 5) The surest way to see if someone is cheating, is to turn on your cheats yourself. Wallhack will reveal many wonders. Which is why I know for a fact that 'Captain Kirk' (in response to someone's comment) cheats. I'm not so sure if he aimbots, but he definitely wallhacks. 6) Cheating will always be there. Always and forever. Sure, an anti-cheat may come up and stop a cheat for a while, but humans, innovative animals that they are, will come up with some kind of work-around, and lo and behold, another cheat is born. Essentially, cheats and anti-cheats will forever continue to take turns overtaking each other. 7) 51% of people who are **** off at cheaters are the type who'd themselves cheat, if not for some limitation (i.e. incompatible video card, can't find cheat, etc...) 8) for such disgruntled people, I offer this solution: download this NS cheat from <span style='color:red'>***Nuked.***</span> , and go out and enjoy yourselves. 9) a few shoutouts: 'merC' -- open your eyes and accept the fact that cheaters (not exploiters) are abound. or start cheating yourself. 'Twisted Master' -- stop asking for anti-cheat this and that, go learn how to program and code some stuff yourself. 10) for everyone else out there, this is my United States of WHATEVER. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
Well at least we know some of the mentality for it. I'm not gonna swear or curse or threaten to beat your mom with a lead pipe. But it is depressing. I hope the admin deletes this thread ASAP.

Meh, have a 23MB demo sitting in my Hall of Shame, following an aimbotter through the game after two rounds of having him tag everyone who even got NEAR him. Only times (twice) we took 'im down was when we had two Skulks go at him, and a Lerk keeping his script somewhat confused for just long enough.
hacks still get past VAC. just go to the ogc site. Besides, aimbots cant be stopped easily since they're entirely client side unlike wallhacks which require server input. VAC wallhack block worked pretty well up to a few days ago, (server wouldn't send you information about enemy players through the wall in CS, it had a line of sight checker thing that was entirely server side so u wouldn't know about enemies unless you could see the m) but recently some hacks that get past wallhack block came out, I think its through real time packet spoofing (whatever that means) plus sound hacks still work since all they do is draw enemy positions through the wall when sounds appear, like firing, footsteps, jumping.
That almost makes me cry for how pitiful of a loser most cheaters must be. They cheat so that they can "dominate a game", but why the drive to dominate in a multi-player game without actually funcioning? I mean, all it amounts to is using a program, designed by someone else, shoot things for you. Your only real contribution is to have an internet connection.
My question is; what kind of sad, pathetic loser needs to do this in order to make himself feel better? If you aren't actually playing the game, what pleasure can you derive from "winning" it? I would ask any other people who do cheat or have cheated to make posts like that one, because I legitimately want to understand this. I would ask the moderators not to ban anyone who makes a post like that, so we can actually dialogue with them. Maybe even temp-ban morons who just come in and flame those who (probably won't, but who knows) post.
I personally used OGC for the period of maybe a month about a year ago in CS. I started using it because I was getting bored with the endless repetition of CS. I was better than most people out there, was frequently accused of hacking, was bored, and figured "why not?". I didn't try very hard to make a secret of it, I just avoided the servers where i was a regular so that I could return there once I stopped hacking. I realized that hacking became more boring more quickly than CS ever could have. It removes all sense of accomplishment and pleasure from online gaming. This being my experience, I was wondering how people more similar to the poster above feel.
Sorry for the essay, but this is something I fell strongly about and I am very curious.
P.S. Both binding fire to your mouse wheel (maybe) and pistol scripting (definitely) fall under what I consider cheating. Or at <i>least</i> exploiting.
makes me want to redesign "Progress Quest" and title it "CS CAL Scrim" and then all the punks can watch it rack up kills for them..... all games are jsut a progression of points, so if you arent having fun actually playing it, then theres no reason to.

I play with the model on (used to turn it off, but lack of hivesight is annoying) and it isn't that uncommon for me to get several kills in a row, especially if carapace is available and the marines don't have much upgrades.
And some marines just don't take evasive action. I sometimes get a lot of packet loss, but while marines on the screen immediately stop moving my movement commands do seem to reach the server for a few seconds. In such situations, running in a pattern around the armoury or some other place where they are likely to be often gets me a kill or two. It's mostly luck (considering I'm effectively blind in that situation), but marines that just stand there and don't jump to the side certainly help <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->
Another factor in cheating are the more annoying parts of the game. Loading ammo, for example, is not much fun, so that's why things like the flashlight bug (gives you twice the amount of ammo when you use the armoury, so 50 instead of 25 bullets for the LMG) are used. And also because reloading makes you vulnerable. The flashlight bug is not nearly as bad as a wallhack or aimbot, but it does reduce the time you're vulnerable reloading by 50%. If a cheat were available to build stuff faster it would also be popular, and give quite a big advantage in dangerous areas (sv_cheats actually does this, but is turned off on most servers, and there may also be an fps issue similar to that of jetpack fuel as some people do build faster than others).
guys always shooting with perfect accuracy are hacking.......... I KNEW IT, MT DOESNT LET YOU AIM THAT GOOD. this explains those 'rines who can shoot perfect and always know where you are altough it's too early for MT. i once had uch a guy on a server, ugh he just stood on a bridge looking at one way and just shoot once his mates started shooting and mostly wipping us all out. it's however hard to detect aimbots cause of MT.

That's why we're blessed with Spectator Mode, Locked Chase-Camera View. It's pretty obvious when someone's aimbotting, so long as you're speccing them like that.
Cheaters only upset me because I think they're ruining the game for themself. There has to be a flaw in your mentality for you to cheat unless it is about money. If you think it is "fun" to cheat then you are simply not agamer, you don't realise what games are about. If you want to "dominate" you are missing the point, you aren't doing anything, it's the cheat. Get a "movement" script as well and you won't even have to sit at the PC, maybe you can start up 10 clients and "dominate" on 10 different servers at the same time without even having to be at the PC! That must be the ultimate experience. I just feel sorry for them since they are missing out on the whole gaming experience.
Having said that, here's a thing that I think is weird. Everyone is saying that an increase in cheating will turn NS into another CS. Eh? I've been playing both NS and CS almost every day since NS 1.0 and I haven't seen a single cheater in CS but plenty of cheaters in NS (mainly exploiters, like the skin exploit). As far as the servers I play CS on, there is no cheating problem at all, but I have seen cheaters on *all* the servers I have played NS on.
I did however get accused of cheating when playing CS the other night, which is kind of rare because I'm very talkative and nice when playing and thus rarely get accused. The method of accusing was kind of weird:
Someone: What kind of cheats do you use, Stoneburg? Me: None Someone: Stop cheating, Stoneburg Me: I'm not cheating, I don't even cheat in single-player games. Someone: Cheating is lame, you won't ever get any real skill Me: I agree Someone: What cheats are you using? Me: I use the aim-for-the-head-and-play-smart hax
etc etc etc
Obviously this is some kind of cheat detection working by the erosion theory...
In my experience the vast majority of cheat accusations are false. If you're getting "owned" there's only a couple of explanations:
1. He is much better then you 2. He cheats
#1 takes a bit of maturity, #2 saves your precious ego (because it would really hurt to admit that someone is better then you at a computer game). I find the huge amounts of cheat accusers to be much more disruptive then the relatively small amount of actual cheaters. I remember when I played againts a guy on de_train who just constantly kicked my butt, along with the rest of the team. Plenty of people were screaming cheater, I just spectated him as much as I could to try and learn from him. This was in CS 6.6 or something. He didn't have a "tag" at the time, but last time I was him he was SK|Potti, and considering that CPL is played on LAN I am pretty sure he wasn't cheating <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->

There was an aimbotter in Nano-Gridlock the other day. A very dark day for that server.
The biggest anti-cheat tool in 1.1, in my opinion, will be the first-person view option when spectating. Makes it 5x easier to spot an aimbot, since you can really see where the crosshair is.
I just have to laugh at the mentaility of the cheater who posted. "Dominate" "Well I got some bad news for you sunshine..." YOU are not dominating, you SCRIPT is. So, that would make you a noob... that's right.. a no skillz n00b. Without your cheat, you are less than the scum at the bottom of the hive. Suck it in.. live it.. because you, my friend, suck!
Cheating=adminitng you will never, ever, be any good at the game, so why try refining your skills. Might as well cheat because you have nothing better to do with your life as mother shouts for you to pick up your dirty underware from the floor, while your script "dominates" yet another game. Congradulations. You have proven you are capable of using someone else's code to make you feel like you can actually achieve something in life. there just seems to be a lot of misconceptions about what cheating is and that anyone who can kill you is cheating which obviously is not true.
You can try and save your precious little ego, but accusing people because they are better is just stupid and immature.
If you want to be 100% sure there are no cheats, play on a lan or play in CAL. Cal has fierce anti-cheating rules and will investigate (ie. FIND and REQUIRE proof). But if you do accuse someone in CAL make sure you can back it up.

Oh, and as for sound cards.. I have a very good sounds card and headphones. Yes, I can hear movement and know where they are comming from, but there is _no way_ that headphones and a good sound card can help you know where a still skulk is, or even allow you to pinpoint the spot on the wall 2 rooms over.
I will point this out though that skulks stick out further than they can see. I often see (and have been a victim of) skulks hanging out over a ledge. I usually shoot them for spite, but it is not a hck or exploit; you just need to be aware that you can't sit right next to the edge of a wall.
2) Players that dont take responciblity for their actions (both in game and in chat) ie: blame others for a loss, name calling, racism ... whatever
3) Players who **** you out for using a certain tactic they dont agree with, even if it works (and isnt an exploit or similar). And if it does fail, rememeber, theres a difference between "constructive criticism" and being a complete jerk!
4) Players that "F4" as soon as they think they may not win. (I always fight to the last Alamo style, ALWAYS).
5) Players who TELL the comm what to do. As if he doesnt already know (usually). This includes punks who ask the comm for stuff the team cant afford or who try to eject the comm because they comm wont serve him exclusivly.
6) Comms that spam medkits like rain. (I consider that a NS exploit, if you dont think so I DONT CARE)
7) Players that LIVE on the MIC. They NEVER SHUT UP!
8) Players who use really STUPID names that either involve LEET SPEAK (a crime against the literate), some stupid band, drugs, truncated words ("R" instead of "are") or random symbols that mean nothing. This also includes using such crap in chat. If you write like a 5 year old, you suck. Simple.
9) People who say "I WON" instead of "WE WON" in team games.
10) People that "camp" a team's "door" 1/2 the game because they ABSOLUTLY have to ALWAYS play that team. (or the team thats winning). </b></span>

If you meet or exceede 3 of these rules, seriously, FOR REAL, stop playing multiplayer games indefinately. That's not my quote but I feel I need to explain it anyway. There's a common confusion about scripts, hacks etc. A tweaked cfg is called hax even though it isn't, an aimbot is called a script (which it actually is, as well as a hack") and aliases and binds (ie: scripts) are called hacks sometimes, which they aren't? Clear? No, not really <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->
I personally use tons of scripts both in CS and NS, I have a script to toggle between alien, com and marine mode (I don't see much point in having a reload key as alien, nor a health-kit key as marine), in CS I have even more, as well as an insanely tweaked cfg. Using in-game commands are not IMO cheating, not everyone agrees, and people tend to get the terminology mixed up.
<!--QuoteBegin--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin--><!--QuoteBegin--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->As far as the servers I play CS on, there is no cheating problem at all, but I have seen cheaters on *all* the servers I have played NS on.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Yes, right. CS is an "old" product, basically all explaoits have been erased/fixed (lambert, bunnyjumping, alphamin, overbright..). NS is a relatively "new" product and is *still* being fixed. The people I say I have seen cheating in NS have been using exploits such as the skinbug, building outside map, and various others. A cheat is a *general* term, doesn't have to be a proxy or other external program (such as OGC). Since there is no 1:st person POV I can't say for sure if someone is aimbotting for example, but I don't think I've seen any. By far the major part of the cheaters are indeed exploiting game flaws instead of external hacks.
In CS I haven't seen a real cheater for ever. NO aimbotting or wallhacking. I only frequent about 5 public servers (mostly play private ones) but I do join random servers from time to time. So yes, loads more cheaters in NS is my experience, sorry that it doesn't fit with your view of the situation. Oh, and I don't think the amount of lamers in CS is much bigger then the amounts in NS either (well, the *total*number is of course, but compared to the player base).
<b>
Nonetheless, I applaud the anti-cheat support going into 1.1 The more often you have to update your hax to counter updated anti-cheats, the more of a pain it becomes. The threat of being banned from all servers (FOR REAL) also makes it less appealling. The less appealling and fun it becomes, the less it will be done. </b>
Interesting thoughts and perspectives from some of you.
Anyway, some comments:
1) I'm posting this just for the heck of it; I will not be using this username or revisiting this thread, so don't even bother sending me a message or addressing me in your following posts.
7) 51% of people who are **** off at cheaters are the type who'd themselves cheat, if not for some limitation (i.e. incompatible video card, can't find cheat, etc...)
8) for such disgruntled people, I offer this solution: download this NS cheat from <span style='color:red'>***Nuked.***</span> , and go out and enjoy yourselves.
9) a few shoutouts: 'merC' -- open your eyes and accept the fact that cheaters (not exploiters) are abound. or start cheating yourself. 'Twisted Master' -- stop asking for anti-cheat this and that, go learn how to program and code some stuff yourself.
10) for everyone else out there, this is my United States of WHATEVER. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
Depends a lot on the marines.
Me: None
Someone: Stop cheating, Stoneburg
Me: I'm not cheating, I don't even cheat in single-player games.
Someone: Cheating is lame, you won't ever get any real skill
Me: I agree
Someone: What cheats are you using?
Me: I use the aim-for-the-head-and-play-smart hax
etc etc etc
Obviously this is some kind of cheat detection working by the erosion theory...
In my experience the vast majority of cheat accusations are false. If you're getting "owned" there's only a couple of explanations:
1. He is much better then you
He didn't have a "tag" at the time, but last time I was him he was SK|Potti, and considering that CPL is played on LAN I am pretty sure he wasn't cheating <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->
yea, i suck horribly, but the last thing i'll do is cheating. especially on LGSO and voogru.com servers.

PPS oh and thelocked 3rd person is a good method of detection for aimbots, so then no more BoD for them</span>
The biggest anti-cheat tool in 1.1, in my opinion, will be the first-person view option when spectating. Makes it 5x easier to spot an aimbot, since you can really see where the crosshair is.
But, sooner or later you will have to face reality and venture out into the r3al world where everyone else with pwne your ***.
CAL does that, and saves your demo files a few weeks after a scrim in case there is an argument about cheating

I would just like to point out that i am not for cheating in any way. But, there will always be cheaters and i do not let myself get upset by it, i just find a different server.
there just seems to be a lot of misconceptions about what cheating is and that anyone who can kill you is cheating which obviously is not true.

Cheaters sit in my top ten list of HL losers:
<b><span style='color:orange'>
1) CHEATERS/Exploiters
</b></span>
This is my list..... If your on it you should probably put your **** in a Juicer.
If you meet or exceede 3 of these rules, seriously, FOR REAL, stop playing multiplayer games indefinately. Dont fool yourself.... nobody thinks your funny, nobody likes you, and you dont have I337 5k1lz (or how ever the llamas write it). This is particulary (sp?) true for CHEATERS. Even cheaters hate each other for Christ's sake! There is as much honor in cheating as there is in eating your own ****. <!--emo&--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/mad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='mad.gif'><!--endemo-->

Umm , just to you know scripts are not cheats. <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

The only "cheater" on those have been me, according to some players, and I know for a *fact* that I don't cheat <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->
