<div class="IPBDescription">It's NOT going to happen</div> As a fade I find I'm getting more and more marines that are incredibly retarded/brave coming at me with knives. Can anyone tell me why? They just start coming at me swinging and dancing around like they want a CS-style knife fight... and I just stand there and wait for them to run into my flailing arms of death.

But the problem is that they keep coming at me, I have no idea why... bravery? Taking one for the team, higher score? They can't possibly be trying to kill me or they would be shooting.

LA marines dont last long against fades, if you've expended your LMG and Pistol clips you pull out your knife to do that tiny bit of additional damage before you die.

Killing fades with the knife in this way is far from uncommon.

yeah, that is starting to happen alot, and then run @ me like mad, and then I get like 3 or four marines trying to knife me and it's annoying becuase when they do connect it makes the screen shake

Assuming I'm not the main target I'll unload all my ammo in you then come in with the knife...it's not worth getting more ammo....and if I am the main target...well I won't live long enough to reload...SO EAT KNIFE!!!

Heh, I do this all the time as marine. If I'm not on a mission (usually defending or patroling) I'll do whatever I can to take out a fade. You can't let the suckers get away because they'll just find a D chamber and come back full strength. When I see a fade I whip out my pistol and unload, then I whip out my LMG and unload. If they're alive and they run I run after while reloading, if not I grab out my knife. The way I see it, they're gonna close with me anyway, might as well knife 'em while I can. Also, if you're not alone, the fade has to deal with you first, which gives your mates time to unload into him.

Oh, thats only if I have no gear (comm would be annoyed if I lost it stupidly), but if I have gear one of us is dead before it gets to knives anyway.

btw, did you mean "coming at me with knives", or "coming at me with knives AFTER they shoot all their bullets"? 'Cause going into a fight with a fade holding a knife when you have a full gun is stupid, and I don't know why anybody would do that.

I'm not sure that's entirely fair. Like many of the other posters to the thread when I'm LA/LMG vs a Fade I charge the Fade and unload the clip from my machine gun and then the clip from my pistol and then start swinging away with my knife. I don't do it because I don't care, and I don't do it because I'm convinced I'll kill the Fade. Rather I attempt to waste as much of the Fade's time as possible so it's not attacking my teammates as they spawn in or destroying our buildings, etc. Once in a while I get lucky and I'll kill the Fade, or at least cause Redemption to kick in and teleport him away. And as others have indicated reloading while your charging the Fade is death so you might as well try to get a lucky shot or two in with your knife.

Maybe i just a real ugly face or something, but they run pretty darn fast sometimes. The smart ones just smack my silly arse with their giant claws

ok, lets be serious, the chances of getting a fade with a LMG is well... possible, just hard...and if you pulled of a knife fade like I have ([GS]KnIgHtMaRe was the gaming nick then and is now) its just really fun to brag about, he wasn't even afk! it was quite possibly the 1337357 thing i've ever done! And its good for boosting morale...i guess.

What I said was assuming that the marine wasn't even using his gun in the first place. Heck, <b>I</b> knife after emptying my clips. I mean, and I assume the original poster means this as well, marines that charge a fade head-on swinging their knife like a ninja on crack, not even touching their holster.

To many people underestimate the knife. Its a powerful weapon against skulks that have been softend up a little with LMG fire. Against fades however its just the Marines final attempt to do as much damage to you as he can before you beat him into the ground after he has just emptied his guns into you.

It can be kinda funny to charge at skulks with your knife out sometimes though, and occasionaly you get lucky...

Well.... i dont rush with my knife, i will ambush fades insted of blindy rushing, that gets you killed.

Hide on a cornor, wait for them, wait until they are walking past you, run behind them, make sure you bullets connect.

By this time, the fade is like "OMG WTH!!! AHHHH!!!!!!111" and starts to panic quickly trying to identify the thing shooting at him, whip out your pistol, BACK OFF!!! (OMG WHAT A CONCEPT) and reload. THIS time charge, gg fade...

(and yes, you do need luck, skill, and lvl2-3 weps)

i have got so many fades by just waiting for them and using this then i have by "OMG OMG OMG RUSH THE FADE!!!!!1111". Fades are getting smarter and will have those claws ready for you

Killing fades with only lmg/la can be very simple. The key thing is that you have to out flank the fade or he will beable to escape. I have seen many fades die because 3 marines surrounded the fade. Since the marines were all near the fade, he would try to claw them to death, but would get mixed up and keep going after differnt marines. In bast (if you have a base in engine room hive) you can use the vents to ambush fades and samwitch them between you and your base. The thing about fades is that they don't want to die. As a result after they get toward 50ish health they will almost always stop attacking and try to blink away. If a marine can get a fade to stop attacking yet still beable to shot the fade then the marine will probably kill the fade.

im been trying to practice knifing skulks early on (no carapace), since one of my stupid clan mates is absolutely uber with nifing at the start. he estimates the number of shots from his pistol (about 4) and whips out his nife and kills the skulk in one swipe. if he misses the swipe and dies, he ALWAYS asks the skulk how much life he has left and the answer has ALWAYS been 10. maybe he has some health meter telling thingy lolz. 4 pistolshots + 1 nife + 1 unupgraded skulk = green splatter + bragging rights.

I actual had some dude get a knife kill on me the other night like that. I rounded the coner into 4 marines. Of course a circle strafing melee broke out in which i killed 3 off them but they collectively blew me to like 20 odd hp. The last guy squares off with me and i back off a bit to acid spam him ( I knew he was outa ammo and i had no armor and under 30 hp). Before i get too blink/acid spam him he swung at me from like 10 foot (got to love that knife's range) and shanked my a$$. I had to listen to him brag about how "elite" he was for the next 3 hours.......

Against people who try to knife you, back away! You can run faster AND you have blink! Plus your claws have more range than his knife! It's really not that hard of a concept...

And yes, fades who wander around alone deserve to die. Never wander alone in enemy territory if you are a fade. Would you go off alone if you were a HA/HMG marine?

NO... When I posted this I was kind of talking about the marine that goes "OMG A FADE! I want to get the uber fade knife kill, AHHHHHH!" I see marines looking at me and immediatly pulling out the knife and running at me like I'm a sleeping gorg. I hate these people... the same idiots that ruin CS by trying to get teh l33test headshots and knifing the sniper while throwing grenades in mid-air.

Don't get my started on how CS destroyed the minds of 90% of the people that played it.... and the other 10% are spread around in places like this seeking refuge from the retarded tactical counterterrorism MOD gone freaking quake 4 fragfest.

This has barely any relevance to the topic, but I feel like I have to let everyone know: on ns_caged our team (marine) was losing so i was hiding in shipping tunnel (the only place i could reach without webs/towers/fades) and a fade runs by me while im hiding in a corner because i saw him with motion, i decide aw what the hell and i rush out and try to knife him (THIS IS WITHOUT USING A GUN) 1on1 lmg la marine, I WIN!!! hahahha i felt so cool.

If Fades are just spamming acid rockets at our only base I will run out and try and knife a Fade. Usually, they back off and it gives a small respite from the Acid Reign. Maybe someone can sneak out during this time...

i just dead or glory in their arms.I tell all LA/LMG equiped 'rines to do this when i'm a 'rine, but they think the cautious way works. also LA/HMG is a support troop so do not waste this piece o' tech by thinking you'll get enough shots to kill him before he is having your head for the gorges to play with.

I like it when the fades rush you, you empty both your clips into the fade, then you jump right past him, keep jumping madly (because you're now faster) turn around, and unload another lmg clip into him. I've killed many a fade this way.

ha ha, I played one game where I jumped down the elevator in marine spawn with my LMG and ran at five fades and a lerk firing my LMG at them, and they all scattered like seagulls, lol.

Then I made an onos run away when he charged at me, I dodged and stabbed him with a knife.
