<div class="IPBDescription">Wahoo! Hive Site and MT</div> I just finished stating in another thread that I haven't contributed to the NS community, so here are some custom sprites I whipped up - Hooray! They take the "minimalist" approach, but I feel work very well. To be honest, not to say they are poorly made, but I didn't spend much time on them. With all the other sprites out there that people slaved over, I find it hard to believe anyone will actually want to use these, BUT, maybe it will fit someone's fancy. So there ya go

*EDIT* Some new sprites I quick whipped out because I agree that the SUPAH BOUNCY FUN FUN sprites aren't the coolest. Here's some new ones if anyone cares:

<img src='ftp://ftp.dudezor.com/uploads/blip0_new.gif' border='0' alt='user posted image'><img src='ftp://ftp.dudezor.com/uploads/blip1_new.gif' border='0' alt='user posted image'><img src='ftp://ftp.dudezor.com/uploads/blip2_new.gif' border='0' alt='user posted image'><img src='ftp://ftp.dudezor.com/uploads/blip3_new.gif' border='0' alt='user posted image'><img src='ftp://ftp.dudezor.com/uploads/blip4.gif' border='0' alt='user posted image'>

I think they are kinda cool, and they look sweet in-game (not that I'm biased or anything <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->). Have fun

    I personnally don't like them. The mt one is ok, but your hivesight looks too... circle bouncing-ish to be something in an alien's vision.

    I'd post screenshots if I could make gifs out of them :/

    Here are my current replacements:
    <img src='http://wolf.lionhaven.com/Blip0.gif' border='0' alt='user posted image'><img src='http://wolf.lionhaven.com/Blip1.gif' border='0' alt='user posted image'><img src='http://wolf.lionhaven.com/Blip2.gif' border='0' alt='user posted image'><img src='http://wolf.lionhaven.com/Blip3.gif' border='0' alt='user posted image'>

    <a href='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?act=Attach&type=post&id=153372' target='_blank'>download</a> (credits: work by WolfWings. They are great)

    if it doesn't work, it's in the stickied "Calling All Sprite Artists!" thread, page 2. Page 3 is an updated version, but I like it less. (page 5 also is another one, but I like it even less lol)

    As for mt, I use the red one with those things closing in, but I can't find it... The predator one is cool too.

    Ok, through alot of slow-**** remote desktoping, heres some gifs of them (nothing to do at work <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> ).

    <img src='ftp://ftp.dudezor.com/uploads/blip0.gif' border='0' alt='user posted image'><img src='ftp://ftp.dudezor.com/uploads/blip1.gif' border='0' alt='user posted image'><img src='ftp://ftp.dudezor.com/uploads/blip2.gif' border='0' alt='user posted image'><img src='ftp://ftp.dudezor.com/uploads/blip3.gif' border='0' alt='user posted image'><img src='ftp://ftp.dudezor.com/uploads/blip4.gif' border='0' alt='user posted image'>

    Nice and simple. In response to Cereal, yeah, those are the sprites I was mentioning in my first post. On a side note, I actually had those, and while they are <i>really</i> nice looking, I found them too big. The Hive Sight update isn't always the best, so as a friendly (or tagged Marine) comes barreling around the corner at you, the "Hive Sight" circle sometimes still remains, and when they are that close up in your face, it FILLS the screen. That was my one beef with the originals and Wolfs (well, the animation in the originals looked a little labored sometimes), so I made these ones. Personal preference I guess. And in retrospect, if there was a thinner WolfWings version (about the thinkness of mine), I would totally use that instead... Might actually work on that, <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->. But yeah, thanks for the input all.

    get working <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> those bouncing circles are .. huh.. too bouncy imo. It's hard to imagine those near perfect circles -maybe bouncing around a bit but still near perfect circles - in an alien's head.

    I like the mt, but, like I said, I'm using another one already...

    So faktory, where can I get the non-bouncy ones you showed in the later post? I didn't see a download? I like those best, simple is always for me, but I don't know where to get them.

    ANy ideas?
  • t_t_sMiLet_t_sMiLe Join Date: 2003-03-18 Member: 14671Members
    it's a sprite file, meaning you put it in the sprites folder. lol gj einstein
  • neonfaktoryneonfaktory Join Date: 2002-07-13 Member: 939Members
    To Havanna: I edited the attachment in the first post to be the new ones. If anyone has a request for the old bouncy ones, I'll gladly put them back up. The new ones seriously look really cool in-game tho, guys. Especially when you are running around all wacky and stuff, they look all motion-blurry movie-effect like. But, to each his own <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    i retried downloading that file that u posted, and as i first suspected the file is that of the "super bouncy ones". Is it possible for u to upload the more static ones?

    much obliged

    I put it in there and it still didn't work.

    make sure they are the correct file name .... e.g Blip1 (no spaces) blip2 etc...... make sure they are unzipped... u should get a prompt to overwrite the older files...if u dont then u are putting them into the wrong folder...have another go....and if it still doesnt work then type down EXACTLY what steps u are taking and we'll be able to pin point where u are going wrong <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Well, I only made 2 sets, so I assume you mean these ones:

    <img src='ftp://ftp.dudezor.com/uploads/blip0.gif' border='0' alt='user posted image'><img src='ftp://ftp.dudezor.com/uploads/blip1.gif' border='0' alt='user posted image'><img src='ftp://ftp.dudezor.com/uploads/blip2.gif' border='0' alt='user posted image'><img src='ftp://ftp.dudezor.com/uploads/blip3.gif' border='0' alt='user posted image'><img src='ftp://ftp.dudezor.com/uploads/blip4.gif' border='0' alt='user posted image'>

    Heres are those - thanks for trying em out <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->.

    *EDIT* In response to Poo! In your "half-life/ns/sprites" folder you should see "blip0.spr, blip1.spr... blip4.spr". Overwrite them with the sprites in the attachment. If for some reason you can't find them, just use the windows search function to search for "blip" and I'm sure they'll turn up.

    Strangely enough they work now.. I put the files in the sprites folder with no avail. So I started to spam them everywhere and now they work!

    Thanks anyways guys! <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
