<div class="IPBDescription">For my SC marine model</div> I need someone that can do a good skin for this model (see the bottom of the post).

I could probably throw one together but I'm sure someone here could do a much better job at it. If you’re interested send me a message and I'll send the model your way. I'm still doing a few minor adjustments to the model but I should be just about finished with the mesh by tomorrow and will start on the animations so there's plenty of time.

(Update) I've added a few polys, it totals at 1752 polys now and fixed the smoothing groups (still might tweak them a bit more), I'm pretty much done with the mesh and I'm going to see what I can do with it skin-wise.
I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to make it's own animations but I'll see how it looks on the heavy's bones.

    hi
to save u some time, u don't need to do the new animation at all.
all u need to do is attach all the vertices to the NS default marine's skeleton. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

Can I see a flatshaded version of it?
  • Pvt_HudsonPvt_Hudson Join Date: 2002-11-01 Member: 2019Members
just a small suggestion, the lower legs look wierd.
sides of the lower leg needs to be bulged out, not concaved in. So does the back of the lower leg.
As for the front leg, the triangular thing should be enlarged a little bit
( for these reference, i suggest u watch the Battle of Amerigo cinematics, it shows the marines legs very clearly ) <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
the waist also needs to be enlarge a little.
    Otherwise this model is perfect <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
    keep up the good work. Thank you. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

dude that looks really kool, with a class over it for like the JPer's or just default, and a Heavy model like that, and you would have a kickass marine model pack, good work!

OMG. Finally someone gave us a priview of an ACTUAL EXISTING StarCraft Marine model. and not:

StarCraft Marine need skinner (no pic). *someone volunteers* Host never shows his face at the thread again.

    or

StarCraft Marine model coming up! *Never hear of it again*

But now, Unleet has proved to be smarter and has done it YAY!

You know, just thought of this, only problem is the alien rat (skulk) is gonna still come up to you, bight your fricken knee caps, and this guy will die instantly. Uh.... hmmm... I'll stick with the SC mod for BF ty. I just won't get used to seeing this super metalic beast get chowed down by a shaved rat.

Ps BF mod is Space Combat Mod at<a href='http://www.planetbattlefield.com/scm/' target='_blank'>SC mod</a>

Well.... I don't think this model will be used for reguler LA, its better suited for the HA because of its size.

And darren, in case you didn't know, the Starcraft marine armor isn't invulnerable, so even bites will damage and deplete the protection it gives (albeit slowly). The skulk is strong you know... how else do you think it can leap great distances?

Good job on the model btw.

Your right how could a "shaved rat" take down a marine in all that armor. After all in Starcraft if someone done a ling rush all you had to do was throw up a barracks and pump out 1 marine in that big hunk of armor and it's game over for ther zerg. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> Just sounds plain stupid to me to say that a skulk shouldn't be able to take down that marine with a few bites when you don't see a problem with a zergling taking him out.

    [Edit]
    Great model btw

    Great work!

I wanted to make one too, because I also like Starcraft a lot but there wasn't any marine available, but I'm still learning to mesh. Oh well, it propably looks better than I ever could have done so chapeau!

Hope you find a skinner soon and release this baby!

(I hope you made this one for the heavy armor)

Ideally of course it'll be attached to the heavy marine's skeleton.

Ah, much better. I was a little concerned with the lack of polys in the last version, but you just blew those doubts out of the water.

Though, why are you hiding the back end? Let me see that booty. <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->

I'm actually interested, because I didn't know how to model the hiney.

Well as seen in the "Battle on the Amerigo" cinematics, the Marines have normal pistols with normal bullets.

Ahh the update looks much better but It really is a lot easier to see what the actual poly setup if you do it in flat shade mode, but thats just me being whiney. Anyway If you dont have a skinner by the time I finish my Hydralisk update and Zerg Drone then I will do it. I'd advise you to try and find someone else though.

    Great job!!!
the boots still look kind of weird, though. Boots should be bulged out a bit on all sides.
keep up the good work !!!

Agreed that the boots still need a bit of work. If you have Warcraft 3, there's actually a Starcraft Marine model in it... I don't think you should *use* it, but it might be a good reference. There are a few tools that can be used to export WC3 files... do a Google for Pak Explorer. You'll also need to find something that can convert the WC3 model files to something that Max/Maya can deal with.

Good luck with this; I'd offer to skin if I didn't suck at it. (: Try Silverfox, I think he's done a bit of skinning.
