This have been up over and over again, with the same result NO SINGLE PLAYER FOR NS And i dont think Flayra or any of the other dev. team members would like this.
Offcourse it would be fun with a story and stuff, but it would be fun to play for a while and then you would return to NS multiplayer. So as I see it it would only be a waste of time

if you want a single player Ns, just use cheeseh's bots... The thing is, NS is designed for online play, not some AI programmed no-brainer.
But seriously single player would be a lot of fun, well it might, like a lone marine fighting through the kharaa network to get out or claim an objective.
But the main problem wiht it, is that it would have to be made. Didn't ns take 4 years to complete (or am I utterly wrong)? And think about single player, it would need alot of new levels and a story line and would probably take a year to complete.
Then again if they started making ns single-player, they might get vlaves support like gunman did. But for now atleast the closest thing to single player will be the training course which is being made for 1.1.
What do you mean? The training level? I agree with that... Wasn't it supposed to come like.. In version 2.0? Or was that the other modes? *Going to check that up....*

Okay. I admiit. Opposing force is different than NS single player would be.
I was trying to make a point without coming right out and saying it.
Single player Natural Selection would most likely be a very typical first person shooter. There are LOTS of games out there that let you play as a human fighting a marine.
What makes Natural-Selection is the multi-player aspect of it. You have two very disinct teams, a resorce model and RTS elements.
In my opinion, single player Nautral-Selection would be rather like what single player Commande and Conquer Renegade is. The multiplayer mode for Renegade is rather fun and unique. The single player degenerates into a rather ordinary feeling shooter.
While I would probably play Natural-Selection single player, were it ever made, I just don't feel that is where this game should really head.

A) The "edit post" button is your friend.
B) The lack of SP NS or plans to implement it are more a matter of code complexity and time required - making bots and a storyline that held up to the high standards Flayra has for NS would take a prohibitively large amount of work. Maybe if some company decided to pick NS up for retail (and Flay along with it), it might happen.
Does anybody remember that the devs don't want to work on it, but if anyone is willing to create it, it's fine by them. He said that HE would work on it, not the DEVS.
If the SP aliens would be as dumb as babblers are I don't want it

Not to rain on your parade, but I doubt Flay is releasing the NS source any time soon... it'd open the game up to every hacker and exploiter on the internet.
If there is a single player NS, I would like to see it on a better engine more capable of creating detailed and freakily creepy enviorments. The HL engine is good for NS right now, and with all the stuff that has been added, HL is possibly the only engine that could handle it (imagine going into commander mode in U2K3 and rendering all that stuff, or walking into a super high poly WOL and having your FPS drop to 5). I think the D3 or DX2 engine would be able to give a much better SP experience.
As it is now, does anyone here with mapping experience possibly think HL could produce a creepy atmosphere equal to something like Doom 3? After mapping for 3 years now (and never releasing anything....blah) I can tell you the HL engine just can't produce those "Crap, thats gonna gimme nightmares" type situations. Yet after playing the Doom 3 demo for 5 minutes I quit and uninstalled it because it was so frikin creepy.
So, in short, YES I want a single player NS. It would be frikin awsome. But I don't think it will be anything to rave about if the HL engine is used.
Unfortunately, TenSix, you're wrong... A friend of mine made an NS map (Name: ns_unnamed ) that was REALLY REALLY Scary... You just need to make it REALLY dark, tight, and have Smooth lightning... Unfortunately, if you want that scary lightning you'd have to make the levels short and that means a LOT of maps to do... But they give nice results though.
I'd love to do an in-depth single-player version of NS, with scripted sequences, meeting your favorite characters (Haverhill), travelling to Sanjii, etc. It is a HUGE amount of work though, and I really wouldn't want to do it without a full-time team and funding, or else the MP aspect would just get put on hold for a couple years.
