    I've been having problems with skins... I installed the alien reskin and the halo reskin of the marines and when i go into a game and join a side it gives me and error like: Cl_parse_error then it gives me a number like 107382 instead of 46 or something and then it boots me...

    I have changed ALL my skins for both sides and almost every sound file too, but i haven't ever get any errors.

    nope... when i enter a game it will download soldier.mdl and then i can go to the ready room... when i try to go into the game and chose a side it gives me that error and it boots me... have no idea why... I restored my ns by using my back up files... but now i have to re install my skins again but i don't want to screw it up... I downloaded: ns_crosshairs, DaemonElite Marine skin, and the Metallicalien2 skin pack but how do i install them without screwing up the game...?

    i know for a fact that all models/skins placed on MY site do not give errors (but i don't have daemon elite pack, and refuse to host it due to random problems like this)

    You have putted your marine skin in x:/Sierra/Half-Life/NS/models/player/soldier folder.... right?
    Make sure that your new marine skin is named to "soldier.mdl", because if it has a different name, it doesn't work. I once downloaded those halo models and one of those models was named to green_halo.mdl. I changed that name to soldier.mdl and then it worked.

    Where are you from? What is the country at those server you play in?

    Well iam from Finland and i only play in finnish servers, they are pretty good.
    But you are from Canada....i think your ping would be too high in finnish servers and the language might also cause some communication problems <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Maybe those servers you play in is some sort of a strange file consistency check....i mean, if that server sees that you dont have originall models, it will start downloading them <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo--> And that is the reason why it boots you.

    If you use ASE (All Seeing Eye) you can filter those file consistency servers out by using that wizard.

    You dont need ip addresses for finnish servers if you use ASE. Just search those finnish flags and join in there <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->

    I think that may be what happens on some servers that enforce original models - I recently got that error on a few servers (have non-standard sprites) but I just tried a different server and It worked fine.

    yah i think ur right because my bro. was playing on a server that let the alien skins looks like the aliens off the movie "Aliens" and some servers wouldn't even let me in

    Ok, here we go:
    Download ---> <a href='http://www.udpsoft.com/eye/' target='_blank'>ASE</a> <--- first <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    It is very easy to use. After you have installed ASE, it will automatically search every multiplayer game what you have in your hard-drive and add them in that list on the left side. If you want to play NS:

    1. Double click Half-Life icon (from that list)
    2. Double click Natural Selection icon and you will have list from all default maps.
    3. If you want to search all servers, then you have to click that NS icon once and then press "Refresh" icon from that toolbar (that red and blue arrow thing).
    4. If you want to search maps from one map only then click that map folder and press refresh (pretty simple isn't it?)


    <u><b>Wizard thingie</b></u>
    Here are the instructions which Coby PM'ed to me. Only problem is that i can't just copy and paste those in here, because he write them to finnish. So i have to translate with my crappy english skills <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    1. Press "filter" from up there and select "New..."
    2. Press Wizard from that pop up window
    3. Select "Half-Life" from that variable section
    4. If ---> "mp_consistency" ---> "is on" ---> "Then reject server"
    5. Press "add to filter"
    6. Copy that blue text from that box at the bottom
    7. Paste it in that "Filter Editor" and name it
    8. Click "Ok"
    9. Now there should be that filter you made in the bottom of everything
    10. Activate it, press that NS icon and then "refresh"
    11. Now all servers that you can see, allows custom models

    Did you manage to make that wizard thing to work?

    After you have installed that metallic alien skin pack (which looks awesome btw), you can't join all servers anymore.
    And it is pretty annoying to try search server which allows custom skins without that filter.

    hahaha... just thought i would ask... u never know... someone might be very generous and give me one <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> but i got that wizrd thing to work. that program is awesome... makes it real quick to get into a game... u don't even have to go through all that garbage like setting the filters and stuff.
