Seventy-two Hours, Containing 5 Hours Of Sleep...

And 40 hours of NS.
That can take a serious toll on a guy's sanity. The lines between reality and game are starting to blur. When I walked into the bathroom at school today, I looked up for a skulk, no kidding. I listen intently for EVERY sound when it's quiet.

I need sleep, and I need it bad. On the brighter side, this much NS time HAS pretty much doubled my skill, I can dominate the server as a lerk if our gorge is smart enough to get carapace nice and early.

I know what you mean. Back in the day when I was into Starcraft, Id spend marathon sessions on Battle.net. I distinctly remember after one particularly long session, on my way to school, I was in my mind clicking on cars around me on the road as if to select them. I was kinda weirded out by it.

Mmm...I remember my first time through Fallout 2, a near-80-hour marathon. After I finished, I looked through my house for "that last mutha f***in' Cat's Paw", before realizing my Power Armor had fallen off, then realizing I had had enough caffeine and it was time to go to sleep. Aah, the good old days...

During my GTA 3 days, I was constanly tempted to ignore red lights while I was driving in the streets of Brooklyn. Most people do that here anyway though...

you guys got off easy (exckuding the hospital guy)...

when you start to make the vault suit...and prance around with a stick attacking mutated "ants"
when you carry the mouse down the street with you and click AT the cars
When you finish the job and reach up to hit the key bound to "oders complete" beofre your brain stops you
and when you start calling your mom "commander"

you know you've had a good marathon

Anyone remember the old Rampage games where u would go through city after city all looking the same, bashing buildings and eating ppl. We spent too many nights on that only to have the power turned off or something stoopid to stop us finishing that damn long game. Eventually we made it to the moon!!

After playing NS for awhile, I sometimes can swear I hear Skulk's chomping in the distance. Or a Fade growl and stuff. Damn those Aliens and their freaky **** noises!

    spring break...LAN Party....30 Pizzaz...NS

7 of my friends (including me) were on a friends NS server for quite nearly 72 hours....we got up long enough to pee, and whoever was in the respawn que took the other guys comp to keep him from dying...

we played aliens pretty exclusively, and once we learned eachothers style, we were prettay good.
I started seeing white circles on walls with their names underthem and wondering why the parasite crosshair wouldnt come up. and i started circle strafing through doors to avoid campers.

    meh...

Wow... Uhh, I've had huge marathons - In particular Friday Morning -> Sunday Evening (Sweetest LAN ever... 120 people + Rented AIRPORT HANGAR + AIRPORT HANGAR Power Supply Source + 50ft AIRPORT HANGAR Space Heaters in Winter = BEST LAN EV4R!) But I've never hallucinated shat... I've heard background noises and been like "OMG that sounds like a Skulk/Fade/Onos" but nothing like "Comm, er, Mom, can I get some Medpacks? ... er, Grilled Cheese Samiches i mean..." But eh, maybe I gotta push the 72 hour mark. Or maybe I don't need to

Marathons aren't healthy =\ Ugh. I used to play EQ. That should say enough.

It used to be because I just wasn't tired at night, so I'd just stay up anyway. That was not fun. You guys should bust out some DDR, that'll get you nice and tired

after a few 13 hour days of tribes1 last summer i was watching some TV to calm down, and some guy was talking to this other guy, I SAW the green triangle over ones head and the red triangle over the other's head. later on it turned out the guy with the red triangle was a badguy and he tried to hold up a bank. somehow my brain knew he was bad before the tv show told the viewers......

After a recent 13 hour marathon on [WHO] modified... I started seeing damage rings and one time I went into the bathroom and actually headed for a well lit corner, crouched and held my pass out like an LMG.

Also, I was pretty intent on believing that people wouldn't hear what I was saying unless I was holding down V.

When I used to play cs 10 hours straight on my t1 in college I would walk up to walls and hear the spraypaint sound...

    ...it still happens sometimes...

These sort of hallucinations are what caused that one EXTREME case where some kids were playing Dungeons and Dragons some time in the 70's or 80's. cant remember what time, but anyways they either:
    A) took actual weapons and took drugs like LSD (common at the time) and pot and had some severe hallucinations. in the end they killed themselves.
    B) took the game to school and if their character died they commited suicide, or killed eachother.

Either way the kids took the drugs, played the game, and died.

Now just think what would happen today with all the guns, grenades, and powerful drugs... *shiver*

aside from that horrid reminder that games are games, i do sometimes think something is in the room with me...

Maybe you should go ask Bob.

I think when you here sounds its like when u hallucinate, its your minds eye, or th images burned in your retina except, the sounds have been burned on your ear drum, so its your 'minds ear'

Just have to share my hallucinations with you, although it isn't really game-related.
I had arranged a LAN with my friends, and to say the least, they aren't any computer pro's. I had to run between them and help them almost half the time of the LAN. When the LAN finally was over, I got home to take a shower. The spooky thing was, that when i turned on the shower, I could swear that i heard my friend voices shouting for me, all at the same time in a big chaos. When i turned off the shower, it was nothing. I turned it on again, and there they was again. That was real spooky, I have to admit.

That would be scary, mabye there are pitch and volume similarities between the shower and ur friends voices, that can usually trigger memories.
