May have been posted before, but read
Ok... for the whole muzzle flash debate, here's what I don't get. You'd think in such an advanced human civilization, we'd have flash surpressors on the gun, just like we do in a modern military today. Now I can understand that the NS team put in the muzzle flash for game balance, just like the skulk teeth, but how come the HMG has a smaller muzzle flash than the LMG? It has an extra barrel and probably fires a much more powerful cartridge, yet it has a tinier muzzle flash?

Yeah, but what about the HMG being a more powerful weapon with a smaller muzzle flash?
The muzzle flash adds immensely to the game's visual atmosphere.

There, the 'in-game' answer is given. Let's all go home now.

I think you must mean "nano muzzle flash."
Nanobots can be used to patch up any halflife engine limitation, gameplay mechanic, mod bug, or game balance decision.
They're like duct tape.
Only smaller.
Flayra has already said that the muzzle flash is going to be changed in 1.1. I suggest threads like this are locked from here on out. Theres a rather large thread that talks about the different changes in 1.1. EVERYONE already knows that you guys don't like the muzzle flash.
IN TEH FUTURE!?!?!11
I can believe that.

Maybe the HMG muzzle flash is bigger but because the gun is so long it is in the distance therefore appears smaller... hehe almost sounded like i knew wat i was talking about there.
