<div class="IPBDescription">Post your useful scripts here</div> Just starting the post.. I dont see a scripting section on the forums. So this will have to do.
Ill post some ideas for people who know how to script in NS.

1. What are the;
"Need Medpack"
"Need Ammo"
"Taunt"
"Cover"
commands.

2.What are the comm shortcut commands..like,
dropping Jetpack
HMG
HeavyArmor
Welder
Etc.
If i knew the script commands for all these I would make the scripts myself, but Im to ignorent about Ns' commands to do so.

Just go into your Console setup and make a key for them.

<a href='http://www.ns-central.co.uk/impulselist.txt' target='_blank'>Here</a>'s a useful list of impulse and hotkey commands (hotkeys wont work when in aliases, not sure about impulses).

Then the commander cant jump to you for HP and ammo.
its better to use the real commands so the comm doesnt have to search for you. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

What I am looking for (I've seen it around somewhere) is a way to script a text message that includes placeholders for your current health and ammo status. I'd like to be able to press a binded key to report, "I've got <i>num</i> health and <i>num</i> ammo." Even better would be if I could include my current location, as in: "Cdr, I'm in Computer Core with 12 health and 14 ammo." Anyone know how to code those placeholders in a script?

I dont think its currently possible to do that in NS.

I dont think it is either.
Most of all the commands are impulses or 'hotkeys'

you cant realy script with them a whole lot.

    maybe they did this on purpose <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wow.gif'><!--endemo-->

I realy hate it , i was gonig to make it so i can press just 1 key to set a building as commander.

But you cannot double up or script hotkeys..

like this to build a IP

    bind "del" "hotkey86; hotkey40"

It doesnt work. Even with multiple wait; 's inbetween

I tryed useing them in autoexec.cfg , same results.
If they arnt going to enable more key sets for commanders (like no JP drops, just HVYArmor) .. the least they should do is make the game more scriptable.. I mean.. having to hit 2 keys instead of one is no big deal , but when you have a huge team spamming "eject commander" because your a few seconds slow. It is a big deal.. lol

if you need to have a thing to tell people your health/armor it would proabably require some type of 3rd party program which isnt aloud in most leagues anyways... so i would just stick to typing/micing your health/stuff in

step back and have a look at what your trying to make your script do. the hotkey commands simply bring the object in question to your mouse cursor. they do not place the building.

try experimenting by using them in conjuction with other commands

You need to go to the right menu in commander-mode. Like the menu for Health, JPs etc. to be able to drop a JP. Binding Health to one butting is IMO cheat(don't know about general feelings concerning this issue around here).

Binding one button to the menu, and then one to Health is NOT cheat, though. And it really isn't a problem using it either. Its kinda like SC(or any other RTS..)

    Just my two cents

Well, I have seen it and of course I am kicking myself now for not having bookmarked the site. Perhaps the script was for CS, although if it works with the HL engine my assumption has been it would work for NS also. My recollection is a short expression, such as "ammo#" or "health#" does the trick. You then bind a key to say_team or something. I never tried the script I saw, but it sounded authoritative enough that I remembered it and thought it would be helpful whilst taking a skulk-infested hive and only a few rounds left in my valuable HMG.

Maybe I did bookmark it, after all. I found the following at <a href='http://www.planetfortress.com/hlmp/hlmp2-beta/article.asp?ID=325' target='_blank'>http://www.planetfortress.com/hlmp/hlmp2-b...icle.asp?ID=325</a>

    <span style='font-family:Courier'>bind "f1" "say_team I need a medic goddamnit [%h|%a] ; saveme"

Each time you push F1 you will call a medic and you will say it in teamsay
( %h = your health at the moment, %a = your armor at the moment)</span>

    I'll try it later.

That wont work. People have suggested it in the past, but I think it was disabled because the devs didn't want the game to be THAT scriptable.

The 1 menu 1 health vs 1 health isn't an issue.

It is and should be fine to bind health directly to one button.

It is not a big deal to hit that extra button assuming menus are working smoothly; it might as well not be there at all.

It is not cheat and you will understand if you play instruments or RTS, it is possible to press very fast w/o error.
  • soldier_47soldier_47 Join Date: 2002-11-03 Member: 5967Members
Well, for the record, I tried the script referred to earlier and, as someone predicted, it didn't work. Oh well. On to other more important matters now.

with the saying health and armor thing
its not possible with the halflife engine
i dunno if anyone else has played any of the quake games, but quake alowed this through its pretty much c++ programability. halflife which is just basically a better quake 1 engine, disabled all c++ scripting, loop scripts, and anything like i have x heath at x place.

with the dropping medpacks etc, u cant have multiple hotkeys bound to eachother
and, if u are dropping medpacks, the equip menu must be open to drop them
    same with other stuff
if u want to build obs, advanced menu has to be open

TFC has scritps which let you say "Need medic/Engineer! I have [20H/1A]" uses %h and %a I think.
  • Amped1Amped1 Join Date: 2003-02-08 Member: 13287Members
Yes, commander keys were made into hotkeys for anti scripting means. If I'm not mistaken, +attack will place an item. So you could do a little health pack script like this-

    alias hax"hotkey#; +attack; hotkey#; +attack; hotkey#; +attack; hotkey#; +attack"
    bind "x" "hax"

This effectively drops 4 medpacks in one click.
