Guide On Abilities And Buildings Of Kharaa

3rd weapon is availible when you have at least 2 hives
3rd weapon is a unique ability depending on species

4th weapon is availible when you have 3 hives
4th weapon is the ultimate ability of that specie your using

Now, for info on the Kharaa!:

Skulk:

Every Kharaa starts out as a Skulk. A skulk is a very small alien creature, with 4 sharp claws on the end of their foot. The Skulk has impressive bite power and teeth, and the Skulk is very fast-moving. Unfortunately, a skulk is very weak, and unless it elvolves into an upgraded Skulk, it can be killed without a lot of bullets being put into it.

1st weapon: Bite

Bite is a deadly attack. It is obvously a close combat attack, and it does 75 damage.

2nd weapon: Parasite

Parasite is a ranged weapon that does 10 damage. The effect of parasite is that it puts that marine that you have 'tagged' on a permanent hive sight. Unless that marine gets killed, parasite cannot be taken off. The marine that gets 'tagged' will have 'parasite detected' on the bottom of his HUD. (screen)

3rd weapon: Leap

When a skulk leaps, it does a long leap to wherever the crosshair is pointing. The distance is very long, and the leap is very fast! Leap does # of touches x 4. A leap last for one full second, so if you manage to do a full leap hit, you have sucessfully did 16 damage ( max touches is 4, so 4 x 4 = 16) Leap is not really good for killing, but it gives the skulk movement advantages. With this movement advantage, you can turn this advanatage into a combat advantage.

4th weapon: Xenocide

Xenocide causes a skulk to make a mini ono scream, and the skulk has 1 full second before he explodes! Xenocide does 200 damage, and double the damage to marine buildings (400). The xenocide has an explosion radius. Near the middle of the explosion, it does 200. outside the middle, the damage decreases, So dont think there's a bug cause some lucky marines can avoid the high damage and take the lower radius damage.

Other Unique abilities:

Hard surface climbing:

The skulk is has unique claws that can stick on any hard surface, such as floors, walls, and ceilings. The skulk is able to move on any hard surface, and stand still on it. So marines must keep an eye out for ambushes.


Gorge:

A Gorge is the builder of the Kharaa. It is , well, very fat, slow moving, and not made for combat until it has the 4th ability. A gorge is a little stronger than a skulk, but it stll dies faster than a skulk because of the slow speed, and its body that was not made for combat.

1st weapon: Spit

A gorge spits weak acids, that do 22 damage. although weak, it travels in a straight line. The gorge uses this for defending himself.

2nd weapon: Healspray

The Gorge sprays a kind of bacterial spray that heals Kharaa buildings and other fellow aliens. This bacterial spray is harmful to marines, thus doing 16 damage to marines that get sprayed at. It does not damage marine structure, and has a range of 400 (pretty short ranged, but slightly more than close combat) Many people prefer to use this to defend themselves when encountering a marine at close range.

3rd weapon: Web

A special kind of web that is designed to trap anything that is Non-Kharaa. A gorge spits a blob of acid to a wall, then shoots another one near it. If they are close enuff, they will both make a string of web. GOrges must use this to for trap and defence advantage. Also, this is a great defence weapon for gorges, as if they web a marine, they can escape out of harm's way while the marine gets stuck and hopefully gets killed. When something non-Kharaa touches the web, the web automatically contracts around the target, keeping the target from fire and reduces the marine's speed by a lot. One web contraction last for 5 seconds, but if an unlucky marine gets caught in more than 1 web, the seconds 'stack' and the speed reduction increases. Example: if a marine gets caught in 2 webs, he ccannot shoot or move at normal rate for 10 seconds. A web does no damage.

4th weapon: Babbler

The gorge suddenly becomes a tiny version of a hive itself. The gorge can now spawn weaker, dumber, and slower versions of a skulk. The babbler does 20 damage per bite, and 40 damage per mini xenocide. A babbler mini xenocide when his living time expires, which is like 15-20 seconds. Babblers are the best gorge defence, and can be used as an effective offensive weapon. Babblers move slow, but they move faster when they spot a marine (sort of like a Charmeleon, it moves slow, but moves fast when it spots a yummy bug). Babblers are very weird, cause they do a lot of wacky things. Babblers, most of the time, dont spawn or spawn in the ground. To fix this, the gorge must aim a bit higher than default, than jump and spawn a babbler in mid-air. This gives the babbler a boost, and he 'flies' foward for 1-2 seconds. Than it lands in a wobblie, funny way. Babblers are mini skulks, so that means it can hard surface climb. VERY USEFUL, as the babblers can chase jetpackers sometimes, makking peeps laugh and stuff. there's been a lot of bugs on babblers, such as they spawn in the floor and start sinking, or they sometimes float (hehe floating babblers.... that would be useful on thoses jetpackers)

Construct Kharaa buildings

A gorge can use build Kharaa buildings (chambers and hives), but it cost recources.

    2: why don't you just save half your post on a text file on a floppy, or on a Hotmail draft, or in the notepad provided with your forum account and finish it later, rather than post half of it and say "don't reply, I'm not finished yet"?

    <b>Lerk</b> - Cost 33

    1st attack: Bite, its the same bite as the Skulks but it supposely be weaker. (Not sure)

    2st attack: Needles, it shoots out needles and damges marines and their buildings.

    3rd attack: Umbra, a yellow cloud the stops most bullets from coming into contact with you or any other aliens in the cloud. <b>NOTE</b> You and your alien buddies have to be in the cloud in order for the Umbra to have effect. Grenades and Knife attacks will go through the cloud.

    4th attack: Spores, a poisonus gas that lowers the health points of marines. Does not damage buildings.

    Special Ability: Flying, have to tap jump for the Lerk to fly, holding the jump button while in mid-air will make it glide.


    <b>Fade</b> - Cost 54

    1st attack: Claw

    2st attack: Acid Rocket, shoots out a ball of acid and have a small blast radius.

    3rd attack: Blink, Teleports you from one location to where you pointed your crosshair. <b>NOTE</b> To use Blink sucessfully you have to "Jump" Crouch" and "Fire" and the same time. Does not work in small places.

    4th attack: Bile Bomb, shoots out a ball of acid like the Acid Rocket but at an angle and have a larger blast radius then the Acid Rocket. Does double vs. buildings.

    <b>Onos</b> - Cost 70

    1st attack: (Not sure of the name but it uses it's horns). Just a melee attack for the Onos.

    2nd attack: Paraylis (SP?) Prevents the marine from moving for a few seconds but the marine will still be able to shoot.

    3rd attack: Charge, runs over the marines or anything that touches. The bad thing is that it wastes your energy.

    4th attack: Primal Scream, increases the speed and attack speed of you and your aliens (If they are near you). This attack also drains your energy.

    <b>Alien Buildings</b>

    Offense Chamber - Cost 14

    A chamber that automaticly shoots a enemies when they are at range. Mostly used for defending key points, some people also uses the chamber for offensive purposes.

    Defense Chambers - Cost 14

    Heals buildings and teammates that are near it. Usually are placed behind Offense chambers so the defenses will last longer. Defense Chambers can also provide upgrades for the Aliens. Carapace gives you stronger armor. Regeneration automaticly heals you, even when your not near a Defense Chamber or a Hive. Redemption brings you back to your Hive when you Health Points is very low.

    Movement Chambers - Cost 14

    Movement Chambers are used to move from one Hive to another. These chambers also provide upgrades. Adrenaline makes your energy recover faster so you don't have to wait for a while before using an attack or don't have to worry about your energy running out. Silence makes you quiet, <b>BUT</b> does not stop motion tracking from finding you. Celerity speeds up your alien.

    Sensory Chambers - Cost 10

    Used for Defense also but a very weak useless one in my opinion. Sensory Parasites any marine that touches it, making that marine avaible for the alien team to see (As a yellow dot). Upgrades for this chamber is Cloak, makes you transparent but not totally invisible. Scent of Fear shows who is hurt from the marine or the alien side. (A orange-red circle). Advance Hive Sight just outlines the buildings and units of both your teams and the marines, press the flashlight button for this to work.

    <b>NOTE</b>: Just building one of the upgrade chambers isn't enough. Build three of each of the chambers for max upgrade power. Also, one upgrade chamber can only be used for each hive. EX: Defense chamber is built first, but you can't build any other upgrade chambers unless you have another Hive.

    Cost for each upgrade: 2

    Resource Nozzles - Cost 22

    Automaticly gathers resources from the map and gives them to your team for evolving and/or upgrades. <b>NOTE</b>: Unlike the marines the alien resources are given to each team evenly so instead of one person having all the resources like the commander for the marines, every alien have one. Gorges gets more resources faster then other aliens because they are builders. Multiple Gorges will slow the resources very much.

    Hive - Cost 80

    Aliens spawn point. In the beginning of the game the aliens have one hive. You can build up to three Hives in every map. The more Hives you build the more aliens can spawn at once.

    <b>NOTE</b> These attacks are for v1.0 some of the attacks will be changed when v1.1 comes out.
