because turrent isn't actually a word to begin with, so unless our beloved NS devs used "turrent" somewhere instead of "turret" then I dunno what you're talking about, and that guy you quoted was just misspelling.

I KNOW WHAT A TURRET IS!
Its just im annoyed that people call it Turrent and im showing that its not just people that play NS that use this word.
If I remember my Linguistics correctly (and I probably don't):
The phrase "t-uh-r-eh-t-s" has a rather "hard" sound at the end, so some people might soften the word by adding an "n" sound (palatization or something like that, I don't have the notes here).
As for why they would SPELL it this way... well, all I can say is that perhaps someone fell out of the Stupid Hive and hit every Web on the way down.
Stupid people are mostly frustrating, but sometimes funny too. Had this player on the server this morning saying how he is "the best player at counter-strike", so I told him it's actually spelled:
COUNTAR-STR1EK
and he tried to argue with me about it lol, then finished by saying whatever it was he is the best player at it.

OMG that would make me so happy! Could you add Gorg and Lurker to the swear filter too? Maybe code it into the game aswell? I really thought it was just me losing my mind over the illiterate n00bs.

But the sad thing is, there is a vowel shift going on right now, and some of these idiotic turnip farmers are actually gunna make some of these lame words part of the english language (you english major will back me on this)

I also care when I see people use "u" instead of "you", both in-game and forums, but turrent I only give a darn about in the forums.
Its fuxoring annoying in my eyes, I just dont like it. At all. EDIT: I never point it out though :X(this topic being an exception)
