<div class="IPBDescription">We need Beta Testers.</div> Hi All,

We're busy developing an NS only Stats program, and we need Beta testers to help us iron out the bugs in the system.

The end result will be released under a form of the GNU GPL.

If you're willing to help test the stats please go to <a href='http://forums.pebbstats.com/' target='_blank'>forums.pebbstats.com</a> read the requirements for joining the team, and then register and post if you are interested.

Sorry, but all applicants will be screened. This code is not to be released to the general public yet, but we plan on releasing it in the near future (near as in before 1.1, whenever that is)

Please keep all correspondence on the Pebbstats.com forums regarding bugs etc. We're developing this for the community, but the community doesn't need to know that something went wrong with the third or fourth beta on your server... <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Just FYI: It is similiar in concept to the way Psychostats parses logs.

    It DOES NOT report stats in game. Pebbstats does NOT want to promote stats players over team players. Stats should be for improvement, not for "score"

    I didn't expect this type of response from the community.

    Beta Testing starts on Saturday March 15th, 2003 and will run till Friday March 28, 2003. After that we hope to be releasing a public Beta.

    This sounds really cool, and I know there's lots of stuff that can be done. Kills/death definatly should not important. Just playing on a server running psychostats I notice most aliens immidiatly go for redemption. i am not much of a coder so I can't really say much, but one thing that would be cool is "class specific"/upgrade bonuses:

    -like killing a skulk with hmg gives you 0 points
    -killing something that had redemption gives you more a lot of points, and dieing with redemption makes you lose a lot of points
    -killing a marine as a skulk gives more points then as a fade.

    of course these are just my ideas, I thought I might share. Also, remeber 1.1 will change a lot.

    Redemption isn't logged, there for you can't parse it

    This is already done because skulks and fades have different weapon classes

    They only log marine upgades as far as we can tell at the moment... IF they could log things like regen and redemtion and carca, how would that really affect the stats?

    Just like aliens can get bonuses like that, Marines can get HA and JP... the logs do not show who has a JP and who does not...

    Due to a 40 mbit DDoS attack originating from the server that forums.pebbstats.com is hosted on, the site is going to be down until they re-install the entire machine.

    Until that time NS Stats will go ahead with the people that have currently signed up. Those who wish to sign up later may do so and still be included in the Beta testing.

    at the moment the only way it logs upgrades is by saying the alien player changed role to gestate and then change role back to the class he was. What I might suggest for 1.1 is that the logging show that the player "alien_upgrade" ("redemption") kinda like how it logs research for marines, this could easily be added to stats.

    On the pebbstats forums one of our beta testers got excited.

    yes, the K did get in there by mistake.

    it shouldn't be more than 138 MB... 138GB is more than most HDDs.

    Note to self: Fix the server side output.

    On my beta tester server, comms and gorges rank at the top, and usually fades and HA come in second.

    Yes, there is an option to disable K:D.

    No, there isn't a way to disable ranking. Ranking is more than K:D, K:D is just an option.

    Make a working teamplay ranking if you are really good otherwise its just another useless tool for Natural Selection.
    Or just make a option to disable every ranking at all.
