Well here's a drawing i made in paint. (yeah i know it looks ugly)
Well i called it NS_command (this can be changed)

Marine start in middle and aliens start in one of the hives (just like any other map)

Since im not in the map making stuff, i would be glad of anyone will take this idea and try to make a map out of it

All reply is accepted.

Edit: I updated the map-layout it is now far more detalied then before. I hope that some1 would make a Beta map of of this.

Edit2: Oops wheres the attatchment scroll down and u will find it.

A siege point with a weldable? So when marines start sieging, aliens have no hope of getting it back? Bad idea.

Are the weldables to be welded open or welded closed?

If they are closed by default and have to be welded open, it looks kinda stupid, because aliens have to go through the marine spawn to get to the other hives or rely on the vents.

It would also be siege heaven for marines. They get jetpacks in 5-8 minutes and put sieges in all those rooms and the game is over.

my map contains simular siege points.
I try to solve this "unable for aliens to get it back" by placing a trigger presence in this siege room (behind a weld to open).
when the door is weld open and anything enters the siege room:
    - a message and sound alert happens.
    - aliens now can press a button (wich was disabled before) to open and close a shortcut door from the hive to the siege location.

i want to test this basic layout.

the weldable double doors must be changed.
no matter hoiw they work they make marines too powerfull and flexible.

The other problem with it is the fact that there's really not much...playability to it, I guess is the word i'm looking for.

It's almost like that CS map...Iceworld. But more cruel and unusual. Big maps with easy methods of getting to most locations is good, small maps where everything can be reached in what looks like 5 seconds is bad. Sorry

This layout looks like a concept-layout of sorts, not really directly useable eh?
I'd like to see a more well-defined layout, where all the corridors are drawn, all the crates and/or misc. obstacles placed, etc. etc.

-The weldble is to open the area not close it.

-Its only a layout of a map no crates and stuff is up to the mapper ect.

No offense but I think mostly anyone can make a layout-concept-ish like this, imo the hard part is coming up with all the details, all the crates, all the corridors, all the room names and twists and turns etc. etc. If you make a layout with all of those details, then I'd say you're giving the mapper a great help.

You cant attatch a pic to a post with no attatchment just by editing.
Attatchments filesize maximum is 123k for each post.
    sadly noone notices that lines.

Wow, that's.. a lot of resource-nodes. Far too many, imo.

Advtange of that sort of.. "mathematical" layout-type is of course the extreme balance, there'll be no hive closer than another, and such. The disadvantage is if things gets too boring, ie. everything is basically alike, no matter where you are it'll look exactly (or almost anyway) the same at at least two other locations. Personally I've tried shying away from that sort of mirrored line of thinking, but, hey, maybe it works great eh.. go for it

Anyway, as far as hive-to-hive balance goes this one has it down pat by definition. I don't know exactly what the whole "timed door" thing means, nor can I really get a sense of those siege-rooms, but provided you feel you're on top of things and capable of making things fun I have no complaints on that.

Again, I think this sort of layout is useable if you're doing the map yourself and has all the details up in your head. I don't see how it can help someone else map it, because there's no details, no sense of anything specific.
