Exploit? Or Am I Wrong In How Aliens Get Points.

Noticed a guy with cheaton!ine in his name. So of course it drew my attention. I then noticed that he had only been playing 3-4 mins and was a fade. Interested me enuff to look at the logs.

Now as I understood things. No matter how many nozzels aliens have, and regardless of the size of the resource pool. Someone just joining a game has to build resource points slowly. And only gorges can get access to the resource pool. So is this an exploit? Or am I wrong, and within 8 seconds of joining a game u can have 54+ resources? Enuff to go fade as the below person did? He entered the game and spawned into a skulk at 13:16:18. And 8 seconds later (13:16:26) he gestates into a fade. Is it possible to acquire res that fast? I didn't think it was. I know in the many games I've played, and the many different stages of the game I've entered at. It's never happened to me.

It CAN happen, and without cheating. I've had times when i enter the game and *BANG* i'm at 33 res. So 54 res isn't at all impossible. I think it has something to do with unused res. You get a similar effect when a new hive is being built and all the aliens players are skulks. The second the hive is finished all the players get a smack of res.
Besides, the fact that he could evolve to fade means the aliens had secured at least 2 hives, so they probably also had captured many/most of the res points.
But i would also be very suspicious of a player with such an ... ahh ... interesting name.

(BTW the bottom 4 lines of your log aren't relevant, that's just the fade getting some upgrades.)

I've played with that guy before. I never noticed anything wrong with him. He seemed nice enough.

not cheating,exess resources in resource pool(this makes the effect players gaining res instantaniusly res,continues on until res pool doesnt have exess res)

This unused res happens a lot when alien teams do very well and don't lose fades, gorges, or anything expensive often. This is why it is best to not have people go lerks early in game, because gorges need to gather up excess res from what I understand.

This isn't a hack for the reasons already mentioned. This is especially common in small games where aliens don't have to spend many res points.

Ok I wasn't sure. I always assumed only gorges had access to the res pool. And all other players build res according to how many nozzels the team had. I know I've joined a few times near the end game of a map. And the alien team had a few hundred res in the pool. And I never got any. Started building regularly like anytime you join. I remember this simply becuase I wanted to fade like everyone else and get at least one kill before game resets.

rofl ur a newb nickoli..if u go into a game thats been going on for like 40min nonstop and somsone enters the game he will most likely always get full res. Sometimes u get full res in 10sec other times in 1 min

hey nickoli, it was probably overflow...don't worry about it, as for the res pool, again, overflow, if they were at 2 hvies it's very possible that most people were overflowing and he would gain res rapidly...

Sorry for the double post...

1) whoever the original poster is, nickoli isn't a noob, it's not that often that you pop into a game with more than 1 hive that you should have full res, if you do, then the aliens are either crushing the marines completely, or holding up and not getting killed in their hives....

Yes, I've joined games where there was a huge res pool and within 3 seconds I had 100 res.
