Forget The Trolls. Ns Team, You're Awesome!

I've seen a lot of posts complaining about "balance issues" and the wait for the new patch. Frankly, I think you're all doing a great job with this game. I think you're fixing what needs it and adding cool new stuff while you're at it. I'm really excited about the changes coming, and I know you're working really hard to make it happen. I just felt like it was mostly the trolls being heard, and I wanted to represent the happy and delighted NS players .

it probably nauseates them, so many people all "ooh flayra teh god" and "what would you do if you met flayra?" i dont know what it is about this and every mod but people seem to elevate the dev teams to godlike status. this is ridiculous, they are merely gamers who like to make games. they deserve no offering of first born children, or 20 years of indentured servitude. a small amont of praise is understandable, they work hard so you can play hard, that we SHOULD be grateful for,but this abject brownnosing im seeing lately sickens me to the core.

flayra himself would probably be the first to say this, but hes busy making 1.1

I don't think that guy is god, I don't worship him, and I don't want to have his children. I was just trying to give some positive feedback on a game I enjoy, and you still manage to make it seem like a bad thing. There's a difference between "Great job" and "I worship you." C'mon.

There's a distinct difference between brownnosing and encouragement.

Brownnosing would be playing all fake and all just to gain someone's favor. What good could it be for any of us to have Flay's favor? Not like he's gonna place a special "Don't let this IP play NS" code in or something. We have nothing to gain or lose due to Flayra's high or low opinion of us.

Encouragement would be "Hey dev team, you guys rock, and this is a great mod that you've put together. Keep up the good work (and maybe add in the Gorge Lift the S&I guys were talking about)". That's just saying basically that we appreciate all the hard work (slavery) [they don't get paid I don't think. unless we donate money to them].

So I say, if you don't want us to say anything nice to the dev team, screw you. But I also say, good job dev team I love this game and I want to see it become even better than it is!

we should be grateful to play ns? im pretty sure one of his gaols was to allow many people to have as much fun as they can with his game. and to spread it around and have many people play it.

and i bet if you were called a god by people you wouldnt mind. i know i wouldnt,

so ns is arguably the most innovative mod ever created. it is also more fun that most games i have shelled out money for. but Flayra is not god, and i don't want to have his baby.

you souldnt stick words in Flayra's mouth.

and Im sure the dev team appreciates all the kind words said about the mod. Some people go a little over the top - but its just all in good fun.

there no one here that seriously considers Flayra a god, nor want to have his children (well ... I assume ...).

its all said in good fun, and with all these negative posts around the forums these days, these are something I'd like to see more of.

I respect Flayra more then any of you could ever imagine and I do elivate him to 'god status' in regards to the general populous around these forums. Call it 'brown nosing' if you want, but hes earned my respect, which is much more then I can say for the majority of the people here.

    Now let me see

    UT2003: £30 Playtime of about a week

NS: £Free Playtime of about (Erm how long has it been since the release??)

Lets just say it was worth the Download and Wait. (Unlike UT2003 which wasn't worth the wait...)

    Good job guys!

i have to admit that i did think the marines were massively too powerful in version 1.0, but that was only because being new i had no idea how to play as aliens effectively, i remember complaining about how weak the offence chambers were compared to turrets and how the skulks were useless against guns

of course now i know how to play effectively i no longer think that, and i am beginning to wonder whether the balance changes the NS team made in the light of all these complaints was the right thing to do, maybe it was, maybe not

i really think the manual should have been more straight forward, its full of the background stories and info on the world of NS, but it didnt contain much in the way of actual hints as to how to play NS effectively, and it also didnt come with a hazard zone course meaning that newbies either had to learn on the fly or plough through a dauntingly big manual to find the hints and tips.

what is good however is a lot of the community is surprisingly tolerant of newbies, i managed to get a friend of mine to go comm on a public server, and the marine team helped him and the aliens even promised not to attack, i was on alien and they let me stand in their base to give instructions to my friend

I've played NS since 1.01, and I absolutely love it. Thank you developers for all your work! Natural Selection is the first game since CnC:Renegade multiplayer mode that caught my attention for longer than a week, and the first since Counter-Strike to do so for longer than a month. Perhaps I'm old and spoiled, but Warcraft 3, Unreal 2, Splinter Cell and all those "gaming revolutions" are just too dull for me. This is why I play Natural Selection.

All hail Flayra. All hail the NS team. You are gods among mortals. You are game developing greatness. I do not want to have your children, but do want to buy you women to have your children, or men, if that is your thing. I would give you fat sacks of cash if I had them laying around, I will give you a small donation to keep the development costs down. I like what you do. I love your game. I do not love you romantically, I do love you like a good friend. But one I have never met. I dont ever want the development to end completely. I'd love to see NS 2.8, if that doesnt make you want to gank yourself. I'd love to see NS 2 for Half-Life 2.

    ...

There. Now wig out and call me a brown nosed poster. It will crush me, and I dont know if I will be able to carry on. *

    Sifo

    * Tread carefully around the puddle of sarcasm. **

** I know, it was obvious. Still, amazingly, some of the posters here will miss it.
