The operating system would be Linux and net connection 100mb

If not what kinda of machine would be needed to run 18 players server?

    PLEASE USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION!!!!!!

    GAAAHHH!!!!!

    FYI and anyone else who reads this who isn't sure: 800MHz is going to be 12 players MAX (pretty much, by what I've read so far) under ANY OS.
    There may be people who run more slots, but TBH I'd be surprised if hera ran well at all....

    I run a 16 player server on an athlon 1.4 (512 Meg) with only 13-14 of those slots in regular use (4x admin reserved slots). for 18 players, it is recommended (by me, now) that you have at least 2GHz to make as smooth a game as possible. You can do it on less, and many do, but as far as NS is concerned more cpu = GOOD

    PLEASE IN THE FUTURE USE SEARCH, there have been SO many of these posts it's quite phenomenal

    my 700mhz server can hold 12 players with 100-200 ping, maybe 100mhz will help it a little bit...

    my 750 is pushing it at 14 players... but just wait till 1.1 comes out and hopefully that will drastically help CPU usage

    If it's dedicated linux you won't be needing the graphics card <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->

    ok... i quite understood that... but... does the amount of memory affect this. (current amount is 256mb)
    if i would put 512mb in the machine... would it help?

    yes but buying a faster processor will be more useful. At 800MHz and 256 Megs, the bottleneck will be your CPU not RAM. (unless you've got some REALLY bad ram lol)

    well I don't use ping booster so I can't say about that but I wouldn't recommend removing admin/clanmod as they're simply too useful <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    The only thing worse than a poorly configured server is a poorly adminned one.
