    and......

    for adminmod: the small c compiler that comes with it

    for metamod: any c/c++ compiler out there, take your pick.

    as for tutorials..... just use google and cross your fingers

    Personally I prefer <a href='http://www.notetab.com/' target='_blank'>http://www.notetab.com/</a>.
    Notepad tends to screw up the formating sometines...

    personally I'd never actually use notepad for coding (I can't live without something that auto-indents for me), but it should do the trick.

    Vim!! (http://www.vim.org/)

    auto-indenting (very adjustable), syntax highlighing, macros, cross platform, everything a growing programmer's body needs!

    I still remember the first time I put my cursor over the opening brace of a block, hit '%', and was bounced to the matching closing brace...

    <!--QuoteBegin--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->What Is Vim?

    Vim is a highly configurable text editor built to enable efficient text editing. It is an improved version of the vi editor distributed with most UNIX systems.

    Vim is often called a "programmer's editor," and so useful for programming that many consider it an entire IDE. It's not just for programmers, though. Vim is perfect for all kinds of text editing, from composing email to editing configuration files.

    What Vim Is Not?

    Vim isn't an editor designed to hold its users' hands. It is a tool, the use of which must be learned.

    Vim isn't a word processor. Although it can display text with various forms of highlighting and formatting, it isn't there to provide WYSIWYG editing of typeset documents. (It is great for editing TeX, though.) <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

    Notepad - the only thing made by Microsoft that's completly bug free (its using the same source from Windows 3.1 I think), stable (just dont open that file of Webster's Dictionary), um....free (with the $100 purchase of any Windows OS), and it can view any file on the planet (it just may not display it right heh).

    Oh what would we do without Notepad?
