<div class="IPBDescription">I must be the only one w/ it</div>Sometimes when I boot/reboot my computer up it will freeze at the login screen (I have Win98) When this happens a green line appears at the top and I must reboot and hope it does not happen again. Any ideas why?

Fector: get a new computer.
windows 98 has a lot of bugs and its hard not to get these kind of problems.

oh come *on*, Win98 is not bad at all. I haven't had any problems at all on my computer. The only problems I've seen are with people who come to me for tech support who can't tell the difference between a BSOD and a startup screen.
i get "couldn't open something.vxd. library is wrong version or invalid", or something like that. I think it's the scanner...

Do you have any of the above three?

Indeed... and I can't even restart my computer right now... Neither the power or restart buttons work... Have to switch the surge when I need to restart. Obviously not good for the thing.
First, make a boot disk.
Start>Settings>ControlPanel>Add/Remove Programs>startup Disk
Now, do a search for a file called deltree.bat
Put that file on the boot disk, and reboot into a DOS prompt. Now, type:
cd A:\
deltree.bat C:\Windows
That will un-install windows. Now, take your windows CD and install as normal. You will have to re-config, but you wont lose all your files.
Make sure you have an actual Win98 CD, not a crappy "quick Restore"
