A Way To Improve Public Games

<div class="IPBDescription">NS University</div> Let me preface this by saying I'm not sure where this should go. Its not really clan info, as it's not set up yet, nor is it strictly a suggestion about the game. I hope I will spawn more than just discussion. Well I'm sure the moderators will move it if needed.
It seems to me that finding a high quality public server game is becoming harder and harder. I think this is at least partially because NS is a very complex game, and learning all it's subtleties is very difficult, daunting for a new player.
NS has a great manuel, but there are plenty of things about it that can't be learned simply from reading it. Being a good comm, and actualy playing as a team, for examples.
This is true of another online game I play, a massive world war two sim game called War2. To help new players, which in turn helps the entire community, a group of good players started a "clan" which helps teach new players the skills to make a positive contribution to the game. It isn't like a normal clan, they don't even have a tag. What it does is connect new players with a group of experianced players who help them prefect their game.
I think this idea could be implemented very effectively for NS. It would help transition players from more individual mods, teach them the importance of teamwork, help them learn the maps, and train more people to be good comms.
Basicly all that is need is a server were new players, who are motivated to learn how to be a better NS player , can play in an supportive atmosphere. And a couple of experianced players would be memebers of the "clan" to be around the server to help guide the new players. Also maybe at a couple of pre-arranged times
have sessions designed to give people help with specific aspects of the game, like comming and gorging.
The obvious response to this is "Why don't you do it instead of just post?"
Two reasons: 1) I don't have a server nor the funds to acquire one.
2) I'm not deluded enough to think I'm a good enough player to teach others. I'm not n00b, but I probably shouldn't be allowed in a comm chair.
I'm not saying I wouldn't being willing to help organize/run the "clan", but I'd need other people to help with the two points metioned above.

Me thinks, alone, the the tutorial would help newbies LOADS because it's hands on.
example:
*newbie goes gorge*
me: you know how to gorge right?
gorge: yeah man of course
a minute later..
me: go cap res stop puttin up offense chambers
2 minutes..
me: cmon man you have to cap res before makin offense chambers all over the place
3 minutes later
whole team: WTH SENSORY OMFGZJ!!:JKL NOOB!
Until then though:
<soapbox> Teach new players how to play!!!!! Most are very cool and want to play correctly. Guide them, teach them. Help them grow up into big responsible NS players. This game has a heinous learning curve. As a community we can help people overcome it faster.</soapbox>
Prosp
*assorted clapping noises*
And for clarifaction I was not trying to insinuate that community doesn't support new players, just that maybe some thing more stuctured would be of more use.
Either way it looks like its all being taken care of, y'all got to tell me these things before I go type a lengthy post......sigh
(I did to a short search to see if this idea had been brought up before and didn't come up with anything)

We have our own guide on the webite if u click on the menu to thr right on
"About NS" and then "How to play"
I go by the name [OSS]OneNeutrino and am server admin
everyone in our clan helps people that ask for help, and are
willing to learn. We have lectured many people this way and in
a week they were already skilled players.
To improve the gameplay on our server we set a "public" password to it sometimes
from 18:00-23:00 (6pm-11pm) EST which is 'orion' . We have alot off 'regs on our server
and you can experience deep-strat gameplay on it.
Plus, I heard the NS team wants to post Servers on a list that come to some requirements
like: admin abuse/admin handling, server preformance, generall gameplay quality...
and i heard they were going to test ours for the top ten... but who knows <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
