Res Node In The Hive Area

<div class="IPBDescription">Should there be res nodes IN the hive?</div> Early mapping guidelines indicated that mappers should 'avoid' putting res nodes IN the actual hive room itself, but that hasn't been taken as a hard and fast rule. My understanding is that the reasoning behind NOT putting a res node in the hive area was that it would delay sieging of the hive in many cases.

However, I tend to think the opposite. I think that every hive room AND the marine spawn should all have ONE res node location. I really don't think having a res node in the hive area is that big a deal. By the time siege comes up there are usually plenty of other chambers in there already.

What do other people think? Res node or no res node?

Savant

All hives should have res nodes in them. One of the reasons I hate caged, it doesn't.

Hmm, marines start with a comm chair, and res in ALL maps, aliens dont

a marine siege can take out a res node in about 2 hits.

So I think that ALL should start with 1 main thing (comm/hive) and 1 res node (Do I have to explain it?)

Aliens start with a res node in EVERY map.

Aliens' speed and superior "intelligence" network - i.e., the entire team is warned when anything comes under attack - mean their res node is much safer than the marines', even if it isn't within the hive.

Hmmm. Well, there are times when i curse maps for not having a res node in the hive (ie during relocating situations.) But then there are other times when im happy they dont. IE being able to cripple the aliens.

Not having res nodes in the hive is no biggy for the aliens, having it on the other side of the map isnt a problem either. Within 5 secs of being hit all aliens know its under attack, and could easily get over there and save it. Marines, on the other hand, have much less mobility, theyre slower and not as aware to these things, which makes it difficult.
