can anyone tell me how to view a demo file? I have a couple NS demos but I have no clue how to watch them. Also does anyone know what the playtesting for 1.1 is going to be like? Since it's not a server patch I have a hard time believing it will be like 1.04.

Quick answer:
I think that you can watch those demos by typing "playdemo" in console (or something like that, not sure thought <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'> )

I'm relatively new to the HL scene, but what I use to watch demos is:

It was recommended to me by a couple of people I play with.

I wish to know how I can preserve my voice commentary on demos I record if I am in spectator mode.

When using the microphone in a game of ns you will not hear yourself, and neither will your demo record your voice. In the console type "voice_loopback 1" so that your voice is echoed back to you and recorded by the demo.

To record a demo, type "record watchmedie" at the console. This will record your demo in the filename "watchmedie.dem". To stop recording, type "stop" at the console. Want to play the demo? Type "playdemo watchmedie" at the console. It's that easy.

oh that brings me to my secend problem. I can't bring up my console because way back at teh beginning when I was all giddy with the new key assignments I accidently reassigned tilda, and I can't see to get my console anymore, even though I've reset to defaults, and way to fix that you guys know of?

Thanks for the info though, i'll come back here when my console is working an d int he meantime that demo program sounds good. Thanks all.

You can just go to controls, and click defaults. Then redo all your controls. Or add "bind "~" "console 1.0; toggleconsole"" to your config (without the outer most set of quotes)

i tried setting to defaults but ti didn't work, tilda was not reassigned. I thought I mentioned that. and where am i supposed to type teh other thing, in the console i presume?

No. In your config.cfg file in the ns folder.
