<div class="IPBDescription">its mine all mine!</div> im sure its been thorughly whored a few times, but im more than 60% complete with it, and im reserving it..

lol jk, but its a mining facility, well not so much a facility, as a place where once there were workers that mined in the mountain side for erm...stuffs.

but alas, a tsa marine ship was overrun by kharaa in orbit and crashed down into the mining facility.

tsa marines were sent in for a rescue, but no survivers.. instead, the found that all of the mining facility was slaughetered and the kharaa have spread out throught the facility.

why not nuke it?

a civilian outpost is less than 20 miles away from the mines... the kharaa must not be allowed to spread.

IIRC, NS_Shaft (by Ekaj, currently being tested for possible inclusion in 1.1) includes some cave areas. It's not the only one of the 1.1 maps with rock areas, either.

Well, I guess I'm going to rethink ns_downfall then. My idea was an abandoned mining facillity, with caves, machinery, and such...lol, it never pays to try...oh well

Ego - by name by nature eh?

As for rock ideas and mining ideas they ARE NOT RARE. I don' even think I have to elaborate on this. They just are not uncommon in idea.

When I started my ns mapping(last year or something) I was going to make mining facility with drill hive etc. then I read some forums and found out there were something like 3 other mappers with the same idea <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/mad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='mad.gif'>

darn I guess I have to redo MY map as well, that featured a crashed spaceship and a kharaa infestation and a civilian town 21 miles away... oh well

Guys, no map will ever be 100% original. Don't scrap your in-production maps just because someone else is making or has made a map that has similar concepts. Go forward with your idea, and make your map the way you want it <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'>

Complete the map.

If it is as good as you think you can do than it doesn't need to be 100% original. Aim for 100% fun is what I say.

hheh ns_intrepid was also a mining facility at first. is now a Asteroid Based Resource Extraction Facility (ABREF, for short). k sounds like a mine still but its very different.

hasnt this been said and corrected before? ns_hera, ns_eclipse, ns_tanith are planetside maps, ns_nancy is a spaceship, and i think ns_bast is aswell, that leaves only ns_nothing as a space station?
