Particle System Troubles

I'm having this odd problem with the particle system.....it simply refuses to work at all. I tried figuring it out on my own.......no luck. I tried follwing Greedo's tutorial exactly.......it still doesn't work. If I try to edit it in-game (which by the way is really really slick....great idea devs!) ...I even have problems there..... the particle system is listed when I use the "listps" command......I get the message "Particle system found. Press F7 to edit" when I use the "editps" command.....but if I hit F7 I get the message "Particle System Not Found". Please someone tell me what to do.....I'll do what ever is needed......Sacrifice a goat to my computer.....indenture myself to the devs( which would be an honor actualy)......wade into a room of onos with a knife.....whatever.....please just help me.....

Yeah, I have this problem too, but I was waiting to figure it out latter. Right now I'm only about 1/5 done with my map.
Also, I couldn't get the slidder bars to come up unless I was using NSTR.

I have that exact problem. I can make the ps... compile it... list it... but never see it.

NSTR is the only thing u can use to ingame edit it tho... so that's why you aren't getting the sliders.

Thanks for telling me about the sliders....damn that was such a cool idea...although I suppose impratical to include in a playable version. Thanks for telling me others are having this problem, maybe I'm not a complete moron. Is there anyone out there that can help us poor lost particle-less souls?!?!

adding my name to this list, IT NEEDS TO BE FIXED!

Well... I fixed it somehow.... Not exactly sure what I did tho.

Make sure you try the following
    - Particle Systems take about 20 seconds to appear so wait about 30 seconds before giving up.
    - make your particle size about 50 (1.0 is tiny.... when I found my ps it was by shear luck as it was very small)
    - give it an initial velocity (0,0,10,0,0,0) and a life of about 10 - This should help u spot it.

Hope that helps.... You couldn't possibly imagine my sense of acomplishment when I found my first ps.

Well you've also cracked one of the -worst- things around for ns mapping - the only way forward with particle systems is to change them in editor. It's pretty crappy, but until you can see and edit it, thats the only way.

i dont know about it being too difficult to figure out. it took me about an hour.

Particle systems of any kind require a lot of settings and tweaking. Ive worked with Maya particles so i found it quite easy and strait forward. Maya has what must be 200 sliders and options up the wazoo.

Another thing the tutorial didn't mention is make sure that you're using additive sprites, if you try using alpha indexed or something else it will look weird :]
