Biggest Command Mistake In My Book..

<div class="IPBDescription">...is giving in!</div> i was just on h2o #7 server and the comm was an idiot. metamorphosis for future references. two idiots kept asking for mines for the entire game. all they did was sit in base and ask for mines. yet... the comm kept giving them mines over and over until our base was more red then any other color. shortly the server crashed. fyi no aliens attacked our base for the longest time since we had waste and fusion.

this is in general though. if one player asks for a shotgun and the comm gives it to him. guess what... 90% of the time that was a waste of resources. and most of all, you now have everyone else asking you for toys because they saw him have one. you're the commander so start commanding and stop giving in to whining. set guidelines for HMGs and what not, tell them they cant have crap until we get a second hive and so on. im just **** at some peoples stupidity.

Actually, I've found that when a person asks for a shotgun, more often than not, they're very good with it. Most players just wait until HMGs.

I can't tell you how many times I've asked for a shotgun and a jetpack, only to have HA and an HMG dropped right on top of me. <!--emo&--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/mad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='mad.gif'><!--endemo-->

I agree, the players that do ask for shotgun usually make good use out of it. Players that ask for welder, usually use it to weld stuff.

On the other hand, players who ask for HMG, die immediately after getting one without killing a single thing.

    AGREED!!!

I usually either ask for a jet pack, or a welder, not too much res out of the pot.

I always just ask for a pony.

    The comm never listens though. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

All I ever want out of comms is Motion Tracking. I'll be happy running around with LMG/LA the rest of the game as long as I have my motion tracking.

I just deleted about five pages cos this post was far too long. Here is the summary:-
Metamorphosis won at least one game in the chair tonight, all be it only just a win. I think he may be inexperienced but not all bad.
NG<i>somethingorother</i>'s comm ability rocks, he totally relied on the marines ability to guard areas, fought only over res points (not hives) and then when we had enough kitted us all up with JP/HMG and we trounced the aliens hive(s) in no time. Whilst we lost the main base on one game - because we were too slow reacting to his order he/we still got us a win.
We had a bigger problem with s.o.s<i>somethingorother</i> jumping in the chair every two minutes to give himself a shotgun and voice spamming.

Commanders have to be listened too.
Commanders have to listen to marines.
They have to decide who to trust and who to ignore.
It's not easy, perhaps in 1.1/1.2/2 whatever marines will have an efficieny rating. Like +3 for arriving at a waypoint +4 for building a structure, +1 for killing an alien, -1 for getting killed, +5 for killing a structure, +10 for killing a hive or whatever but until then he has to guess - was this the same guy who asked for mines last time?

    this is soooooooo true.

be a disciplinarian to your troops. when i command (rare) i give out stuff ONLY if marines are doing what i tell em to, or if i know for sure that they make good use of things handed out to them. Also, give them incentives (first one to secure -blah- hive gets first hmg when researched, etc). if they dont do what you tell them, ignore/mute them.

Yeah...i have noticed it too..most of hmg whiners who get hmg die after few corners..but shotgun users usually stay alive to get more ammo...and whit jet pack..they are real killers...i always assign one marine to def main base..no tf of course and give that def marine a shotty..keeps all skulk rushes away..and other marines can easily take res nodes while skulks try to rush marines main base...

when i am not comming..i just ask say that ill def base/outposts, so could i have a shotgun for those nasty skulk rushes.
And my personal opinion is that shotty is way more better that hmg or gl..few shots can take fade down....and shotty is a real skulk/lerk killer.

Somebody, I can't remember who, said once, "I find the guys with the biggest <<i>cajones</i>> and I give them nothing." I find this to be a good rule to follow. It's important to give your guns to people who can shoot, but you also have to remember to figure out who will protect it best.

Along the same lines, I've always felt that the difference between good clans and just ok clans is that the good clans have members who know when to avoid a battle. Even a good shooter will die if he runs into a room with 3 skulks.

pffft... i'll run in, take down a skulk, die, but make sure to have my teammates own the other two a second later <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

Well you have to answer to them that put 2-3 mines around ip... and i mean on the floor not to the wall. That will stop at least one skulk.

Shotty is very powerfull gun in right hands. And if you die when defending base with shotty, you still have time to pick it up after you next respawn. And with shotty you can walk as fast as with lmg.

    i so agree!!!

i like to be the scout guy, i die a hell of alot cos of that but i'd rather take point or be the guy who rushes through the door way & draws out the hiddne skulks so my team mates behind me can whack 'em

Mo Trk is the most important weapon a marine can have <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
