Armory And Ammo

<div class="IPBDescription">How Do You Hump Yours?</div> Some like to walk around the armory while refilling their guns, while others will stand on top of it and hump from the missionary position, some do it alone, some do it in twos, some never do it at all. This is usually done to avoid skulk attacks, since they tend to home in on the sound of ammo thirsty marines.

So, how do you hump yours?

I just get what I need out of my armory, and always leave it wanting more.

Slightly off topic, but slightly not, is health humping. What I mean is people sitting in the base whining for health. Whenever I comm and I do this I simply tell them to kill themself, and the problem is solved. If their reply is that they have a weapon, I tell them to kill themself, they can pick it back up after they spawn. Not only does this save res, but it saves time. I hate when 'rines in base whine for health when I'm trying to secure a location, or I'm attacking a hive.

    Nice answers!

The reason I asked, was because the other day I was playing as a Fade, the marines had grenade launchers, I thought it would be a good tactical decision to blink to their armory and take it out. While I was crouched and slashing behind the armory protecting me from turret fire, I noticed one marine run up to the armory and instead of shooting at me, started loading up on ammo!

... I don't think I could do it while someone was watching me.

Oh wow that's sad. i can see some one doing that tho. usually someone obsessed with getting 250 lmg ammo before killing something. seems like marines are obsessed with getting ammo before doing anything of importance. like when we're trying to take a hive, and some skulks walk into the hive, the marines die. i tell guys to get into the pg and they go the armory first. DOn't you people realize that satisfying your desires will not help the cause?! When a situation like the described above comes up, i completely ignor the armory. but when i've got time, i get all i want, and it gets all it wants.

Hehehe, that reminds me once, when I was on nothing, and we had the marines pinned and had just secured the third hive. We had all the res. towers except the one in their base, and of a team of 7 aliens, I was a fade, there was one lerk wandering around somewhere, 1 skulk (guy had just joined) and 4 gorges (!).

The marines had been sloppy and bad shots all game, so I went to their base and requested backup, or DCs, or hell, even OCs. I enthusiastically invited everyone to join in the fun with me over voicecom. At this point, my kill/deaths were like 12/10.

5 minutes later, I've seen no lerk, no skulk, no gorges, and no towers. Hmmm. My kill ratio was like 28/10 now. Of the 7 marines, 2 got tired of eating rockets and were in the ready room, one was still comming, and the other 4 would spawn/die over and over. I think maybe one of them slipped through my acid and ran off into the map somewhere, because he never came back or died (and he eventually killed one of the four gorges).

Anyway, this whole story isnt about the alien team not wanting to finish the game or how retarded it was to have 4 gorges. Its about the other 3 marines.

I dont know what it was, because I didnt really want to drag the game out, but wanted a fresh start... but... grrr... I couldnt help myself. I started to play with them.

I would acid rocket the armory and drop one, and then run around the room trying to get the other guy off it. TRYING to get him to fight me. One time I was standing in their base, firing rockets, letting the energy build, and firing another rocket. Slowly. Yet still they humped the armory. I'd blink up into the top area from the ladder, and fire from above. They would hump.

It seemed like no matter what I did, or the fact that there was only one of me, or that I STOOD in their freaking base, they never engaged me. I thought at this point maybe I was delirious or something. Then it happened.

One marine was milking the armory (and loading his handgun up) and another spawned. He went to the armory. He humped.

    ...

I was 30 feet away. I had been killing them for some 7-10 minutes now. I had killed these three at least 8 times each. And he humped.

Shortly after that, stunned, I ended the game. One of the gorges in the Ready Room yelled at me for it, because the third hive was almost done.

    /me sighs softly to himself

I think some players hump because they dont know better. I think a lot of others hump because they are hopeless tools.

I like to hump the armoury by quickly switching from LMG to pistol to LMG to pistol and so on as fast as possible.... Dual stimulation! <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

You guys are crude and selfish buggers.

I like to buy the armory a few drinks first. Make a little small talk. Maybe dance a bit. Most armories like the slow dances. Maybe late, after a few clips, when the armory is all relaxed and funky - then I'll hump it.

But it has to be good for the armory too.

It depends on the situation, if I'm defending base or I'm going to be defending a hive I'll get full ammo(Unless I've been told to get there "<b>now</b>!"), if I'm running from point A to point B I'll typically have 1 Clip in gun plus 100-150 Extra, I almost always get full pistol ammo if I have the time.

And I generally walk around the armoury, unless there's a bunch of other marines gang-banging it.

I usually pick up only two extra clips with LMG. Anything more and I will try to fill it up entirely, if everything is quiet. I don't understand why marines fill up thier LMG clip stock. They die before they use it all.

I have been known to recycle the armory if they don't get off of it.

I fill it up if I'm going to be defending something... like a hive or a Choke point, somewhere where I don't have access to an Armory.

Only bad marines die a lot, sure most of the time the skulks rush 2-3 at a time, but that's easy to counter... 1 clip from the LMG 1 from the handgun.

    Edit:
Although once they get fades I typically go with 50/100 because 90% of the time you're going to die(Unless they're a **** fade).

I fill up only if I'm a defender somewhere. It has happened too many times when I'd leave the base/expansion for ONE MINUTE to get an extra clip or and from wherever I was defending, the place gets overun just like that. Its like:

Alien1: Dood, ZERG!! left the building.
    Alien2: *Chuckle* let's roll out.

humping armory then running off and dying = "humpem and dumpem"

seriously... i've whored with HMGs defending the base as skulks come loudly leaping in, loudly xenociding, loudly biting, making LOTS of LOUD noise... and the marines still cling to the armory, ignoring aliens, as if holding on for dear life.

I'll grab two spare LMG mags and a backup for my handgun. Rarely, if ever, have i needed more than that, and the studies involving ammo versus speed have shown that the more you carry, the slower you travel. Hell, a fully loaded shotgun in light armor travels *slower* than a LMG-toting heavy armor dude with a few backup mags... what does THAT say?

Honestly... you don't need that extra few hundred rounds unless you're gonna go smear a hive or trash some buildings. If you're going to do that, most of the time you can either duck back through a phase to your spawn and grab ammo, or the commander might drop you a few mags if you've got the spares.

Usually I just go for a quick grope, perhaps one extra clip. If I'm in a hurry I just walk right past it. Business before pleasure <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->

funniest thing i find is if i load up on ammo before going out i will usually survive 0.2 seconds and didnt even get a whole clip off.

whereas if i didnt get any ammo atall after spawning i will survive for ages and run out of ammo quickly

    :/

leek thats cuz of your weight = 300/40 is quite a lot slower than 100/20....

Personally I use protection whenever I hump the armory. I mean, hell, you never know where shes been...

Also did any of you ask before you humped? I think not..

When I play alien and attack the marine base as a skulk (endgame), I ignore everything else and go straight for armory. Usually there are 3-4 marines milking the armory not bothering themselves with the collapsing world around. I go near them, select the finest looking a*s from my tortoise view and then proceed to take a bite. I can hear a scream, but they still continue to load up their LMG and pistol staring at the glowing buttons and the sexy monitor. If the piece is not tasty, I take a bite from the next one. Sometimes I get frustrated due to the poor quality of the meat so I first add a parasite to create more flavour. Onos filthy horn also makes the piece delicious indeed, but they are unfortunately rarely available. I have also sometimes invited a fade or two to join me for our snobby dinner. I can almost see a tunnel leading the poor lambs from their IPs to their inevitable <span style='color:red'>doom</span>, the armory, and blocking the fruithful environment of the outside world from their eyes...

As a marine, I try to avoid this doomsday machine as much as possible. I only take 2 extra clips for my LMG and 1 for pistol after surveying the surrounding for potential danger.

Man, you are right, the armory usually spells death. If the Kharaa were smart, they'd evolve into armories.
