Redemption Is Useless Most Of The Time

For the 3rd time today Ive died the first time ive been attacked with lvl 3 redemption. Its either all or nothing and most of the time its nothing. I have been saved by redemption mutliple times only for it to fail when it actually mattered like having 76 res for the 2nd hive. You just watch ur health go down and hope to god that it actually works when its needed. I dont know what the current % chance is but it needs to be increased, if its to be a more realistic option. At least with carapace I know im getting some benefit.

I'm not sure if redemption is dependent on FPS/ping... ideally it shouldn't be, and the conditions for it are so simple that doing it server side makes a sense.

Anyway... over twenty redemptions in a row as a fade. Damn useful.

Wtf i had 4 hmg guys firing at me(standing still) at pointblank(in case people STILL insist that it is NOT pointblank, the distance was about 0 centimetres.i am tired of hearing that excuse.)as a fade with level 3 redempt and i redeemped without dying......

The only time ive seen redempt fades die is due to either EXTREMELY high pings, packet loss or mass amounts of nades.

from wat i understand, redemption has a chance to 'redeem' you whenever you get hit AND your health is below a certain PERCENTAGE. this is why it seems redemption works better for classes that have high hp (gorges and fades). also redemption takes a certain amout of time to take, so if you're underfire from multiple sources or powerful weapons, you either 1) not get redeemed or 2) get killed after you redeem. level 3 redemption almost always saves gorges and fades from SINGLE low level lmg/pistol fire.

Redemption is link directly to ping.

Now in 1.04 it has been drasticly improved and it works really well most of the time.

I had one game where I kept suicide charging as a fade into the marines base, and never died, always redeemed.

It does work very well, just DONT get yourself into a battle with 5 marines and expect to be redeemed while charging at them, as the damage is dealt too fast

Often times I'll redeem, then die as if the bullets follow me through my "phase trail"...I hate that.

I usually have sub-100 pings also, rarely any loss/choke...
but I never just "sit there" and wait for redemption to kick in, I always put up the best damn fight or try to take as much cover as possible. Might as well go out with a bang

yes I do believe redemption is linked to ping. I suppose it's something in the words of:

your comp: Huh, i'm almost dead here, need redemption... *redempts*
server: Ok, here's your go for redemption... Go back to hive *redempts him*

(this is just a really broad overview but it must go something along these lines)... The reason for the 2 redempts is that your computer calculates himself as some kind of own servver what should happen... For example in counter-strike, you'd have noticed if you read whatever it's called report (summerblue I think it was) That the bullet-holes wads were put instantly to try to cover up the lag. But the server calculates differently (he calculates all the players, while you only correct yourself). Now I don't know how I came up to telling this, but I think that what I meant is that lag interferes with redemption because the bullets are calculated before the redemption... While the redemption is needed, you're still being shot at. After the redemption has been made, the server still thinks you're over on the battlefield getting shot at (due to the lag) even though you're not.

I guess it's that but I'm not sure... Just a thought, I don't think I barely said anything worth of sayig

The key is to not go from 40% to 0% too quickly (i think redemp starts 'working' at 40% health). You get redeemed if:

    1) you are under 40% (again, i think thats when it starts working)

    and

    2) you just got shot (you have to have taken damage in the past few seconds to get redeemed. if you escape, you wont redeem)

    and

    3) the comp roles its magic dice and you get above a certain number (this 'certain number' MAY be tied to % health remaining, not sure)

So redeem has a higher and higher chance of successfully pulling you out of combat the more life you have (IE the longer it will take to go from 40% to 0 therefore the more 'chances' to redeem you will get), and probably is dependant on your fps (more fps probably means more rolls of the magic dice, therefore more chances to redeem).

As it has been metioned before redemtion is unreliable because it is linked to ping but not in the way you would think! It doesnt matter much wether you have a high ping but wether your attacker has one! Due to half lifes prediction netcode a high ping attacker will see you die right in front of him whilst you will experience bieng redeemed back to the hive only to live for a second or so before you die! In my experience with redemtion this is how I have died most of the time and i find it rather annoying!

for marines trying to kill redemption gorges the trick is to use the Pistol first then the LMG at point blank.

Nope. Use a shotgun. It deals one big clump of damage. It can take anything (OK, maybe not an Onos ) from above redemption level to dead in one shot. Redemption never has time to kick in.

You probably forgot to utter the magic word.

This is funny, I was gonna post how redemption often works too well. I typically find my self as fade being redeemed with what seems to me a lot of Life and Armor left (neither gone or in the red and Life at like 70 something and armor at like 40 something if memory serves). Forget about Redepmtion when the marines have weapon upgrades, you spend more time running back into the fray than you do actually fighting.
