how come there is no blood in ns? Every now and then you'll see the green blood from the aliens, but how come there are no gibs when someone dies from an explosive? And when a marine gets bit or shot with spines, or slashed, why doesnt he doesnt bleed?
This has prolly been asked, but i'm at college and that just ran across my mind. Constructive insight/answers only please =)

Gibs and blood is a glorification of violence. NS has chosen to let gameplay and design stand out above flash, blood, and gore.
I completely and wholeheartedly agree with their decision.

Because Flayra says so <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
No, seriously, that's why -- I've seen it said before that Flayra doesn't like the idea of blood and gore in NS, so there never will be anything more than the current subdued alien bloodstains. I tend to agree -- NS isn't about gibs, they just wouldn't fit.

ohh i get it. See, i was thinking more along the lines of tfc. That kind of blood is no big deal...however, there are deathpacks that you can download for cstrike that make it so when you shoot people blood spatters onto the floor and walls, and stuff. I got it, it kicks arse! I think something like that for ns would be cool.
Another question. Why is it that when I get killed from a turrett it shows on the right side "SoBe.Dragon killed self with turrett"....it doesnt actually <i>say</i> that in the console, but thats what the icon on the right suggests. Shouldnt my name come before the turrett icon?
How come when i join the alien team when the game starts, I start with 10 res (which usually ticks right up to 13). But if I join the game late, I start with 0?

1) Because if your name was on the left side, it would read "SoBe.Dragon killed <nobody> with turret", which would make less sense <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
2) Because at the start of the game, each team has some resources. The marines' resources all go to the comm, and the aliens' get split up between them. I think each skulk having 10 is some function of the bigger-team-gets-more-res code/concept.

yeah you're right, that would make less sense. But they way I am currently looking at it, is it looks like i'm committing suicide via the turrett =/ wutever =)
Sooooo, you connect, get 10 'free' res, type retry in console, you leave, your res goes into pool, you re-connect, get 'free' 10 res, type retry in console.....etc, etc.
It lead to the aliens being able to get obscene amounts of res very quickly.

Well, no player truly built or controls the turret, so whose name should go to the left of the turret? I suppose the comm who built it could be credited with the kill, since HE put it there... hmmm...
And what's with the screenshot?
So..........., unless it sucks up to much cpu server usage I think the armor shard thing was a good idea.
Well whatever, I know it has been beaten to death but frankly i am to lazy to use that magic "search" feature everyone harps about and go dig up an ancient thread
Blood isnt neccessary in any game. But I do like what Narf is saying. Some sort of visual representation that you hit a marine. As of right now the only representation that you hit a marine is that he flies half way across the hallway, lol.
So coil, people cant even release custom packs that will allow blood and/or gore on their machine? And coil, I didnt ask "Hey, can we put blood in NS?" I asked, "WHY isnt it there?" Directing me to the FAQ was the right thing, telling me "Thanks for playing" was not called for. You should try and use that search button sometime...I searched for blood and nothing of use came up at all.
"Oh my god that's like so <span style='color:green'>***CS LANGUAGE***</span>
on the upper torso, which you dont see as a skulk and are either too far to see or are blocked/not displayed correctly when they come through the model.
Infact, its <i>very</i> hard to tell weather you hit a marine or not.
If there were a trail of light blood from every marine i bit off, i'd be one happy skulk. And yes, i know the nano's are supposed to heal up wounds quick but this is MASSIVE damage... could nano's repair a bite wound from a gator or croc so fast as to stop blood in less than a second? Not bloody likely.
These are all things that are never going to be in NS, simply because Flayra doesn't want them in NS. And, well, whatever he says, goes.
